Friday 5th June 2020

Happy Friday everyone,

I hope you have all had a great week. There has been lots of super work happening in lots of your homes so a massive well done to you all. If you haven’t sent any work in a while remember you can send it at any time and it doesn’t need to be every day just when you can. Massive thank you to everyone who is helping you all with your work at home.

Friday’s tasks:

Literacy.

Reading – partner read a story, magazine, comic that you have at home. Ask someone at home to read with you. Think about your expression in your voice today to make what you read exciting. Remember we use expression to add interest and excitement to what we read if not and we use the same voice the whole time people might fall asleep! ha!

Dictation.

Primary 1

Are we not going out to play?

Primary 2

When I have been working at home this week, I have had to keep a note of the time because I have been taking too long to finish my work.

Maths

Primary 1

Number sorting – ask someone to give you ten numbers between 0-20 not in any order.

1 – sort the numbers from smallest to largest.

2- sort from largest to smallest.

3- sort into even and odd.

Practise your number bonds to 10 and 20 if you can.

Primary 2

Number sorting – ask someone to give you ten numbers between 0-100 not in any order.

1 – sort the numbers from smallest to largest.

2- sort from largest to smallest.

3- sort into even and odd.

Practise your 2 and 5 times table today. If you feel confident with them both try moving on to the 3 times table. Remember you are just counting on in 3’s. I always would get you to write out your tables on to paper you can decorate them, make them bright and colourful and then learn them off by heart by practise. It works!!

R.M.E

Find time at some point in the day to pray with your family or on your own. Thank god for looking after us during this time and ask him to continue to help us all.

P.E

Try and have active time throughout the day too. Getting outdoors is great for our well being.  Ill let you decide what type of physical activity you will do today.

Have a great day boys and girls.

Thursday 4th June 2020

Good morning boys and girls,

I hope you have had a good week. Primary 1 children I m so sorry I couldn’t get on to your zoom catch up last night my internet wasn’t connecting. I hope you all enjoyed your catch up. Primary 2 it was lovely to see you all on Tuesday night. Mrs Curran and I are missing you all so much.

 Today’s tasks:

Literacy

Spelling

Primary 1 – Write a silly sentence that uses all this week common words. Remember it doesn’t have to make sense. Have fun with it.

Primary 2 – Write a silly paragraph using your common words from this week. Remember it docent need to make sense.

Remember punctuation, a sentence needs a capital letter at the beginning and a full stop at the end. Use this task to practise perfect handwriting.

Reading

Personal choice. You can pick a book from the level you have been working on from oxford reading tree website and if you can not access it you can pick a book you have at home.

Primary 1 – Try a cut up sentence. Ask someone to help you with this task. Ask someone at home to pick a sentence from the book and write it on to a strip of paper. Cut up the sentence into words and then you have have to sort the sentence into the correct order and find it in the book. Just like we would do in class.

Primary 2 – Write a BME. What happened at the beginning, the middle and the end of the story? Use your own words and remember it is a summary not word for word.

Once again four on using the correct punctuation, especially capital letters and full stops.

Maths

Measure

“Estimate the amount” play this game with your family you ca use anything or any objects that you ca count I used pasta with my kids. (Dried pasta). Pour pasta into a bowl or a jar and estimate (a careful guess) how many pasta tubes or shapes there are. Count them and the person who is the closest wins a point. Play for as long as you and someone at home wants and see who wins. The will help you with the skill of estimating.

Try this game

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/measuring-in-cm

Primary 1 have a go at level 1.

Primary 2 have a go at level 2.

Art and Design

If you used pasta or something else that mum or dad thinks you can no longer use in the kitchen (sorry) then use whatever it is to create something artistic. It could be a pasta necklace or a pasta picture. Use your own creative minds to create something with what you used if you can reuse it in another way.

Have a great day everyone.

Literacy

Watch or read the story about Mog the Forgetful Cat by Judith Kerr. This is one of my favourite children’s stories so I hope that you like it!.

Today we are going to write a story about Mog the cat. I’m going to write the beginning of the story and I would like you to write the middle and end section of the story all about Mog’s adventures.

Primary One :

Write a middle and end to the story remembering to use capital letters/full stops and joining words. You can draw a picture of the main part of the story too.

Primary Two :

Write the next two parts of story in detail, using paragraphs,  joining words and describing words to make your story full of adventure. You can draw a picture of the main part of the story at the end.

Mog’s  Adventure

It was a beautiful sunny day in the garden and Mog the cat was sleeping on the grass. She had liked the feeling of the sun on her fur and she was having a lovely dream about Debbie and Nicky feeding her some fish.

Then suddenly ….

Numeracy
