Maths

Just before we stopped for Christmas, we had been working through 2d shape. With this in mnd I’ve attached a booklet for you to complete.

Now you’ll not be able to complete the odd question as it requires that you measure a side for instance but for most, you could either draw out onto blank paper or if you have access to a printer you could print off the booklet or just type your responses out in a word document.

You’ll notice that there is a web link on the front of the booklet, this site has lots of good resources that you may find useful as we continue with online learning.

The second task for today is to log in to Sumdog. North Lanarkshire will be starting a competition this Friday, so it’ll be great if we can get back into the habit of accessing Sumdog on a regular basis.

P.E.

As you may have heard already by now but Joe Wicks is starting his online workouts again. These will take place at 9am on a Monday, Wednesday & Friday.

You don’t have to catch Joe at 9am, you’ll be able to get him on catch up via his youtube link.

I think when the weather isn’t so great just now, Joe Wicks can be a great opportunity to burn off some energy.

R.E. Prayer for the Year Ahead

We may be having a different start to this term from what we had hoped and as you know our Church buildings are currently closed so all the more important that we take time for personal prayer at home either on our own or with family members.

Have a think about creating a short prayer to ask for God’s support during the times that we all find ourselves in just now.

When you create your prayer make it decorative in its presentation and if you can upload or email your prayer to us then we could create a collage of all our P7 prayers.

Art

As it’s the start of a new year an activity we’d ordinarily do in school is to make a calendar.

The link below is for a short youtube video that shows you how to make a desktop calendar

like the one shown in the picture above. Now you could make it on any theme, not just animals

or pets and you could get creative with what you use, could you perhaps recycle an old cereal packet?

Once complete be sure to take a photo and upload it to your blog or our class page.

We Wish You A Merry Christmas

Mrs Baxter and I would like to wish all our P7s a very happy & healthy Christmas!

We’ve decided this year to gift the class two chickens. The chickens were bought from SCIAF as part of their Real Gifts initiative.

Focus for Literacy Week Beg. Mon. 14th Dec.

The focus for our building vocabulary this week will be contractions.

A contraction is a word or phrase that has been shortened by dropping

one or more letters.  In writing, an apostrophe is used to indicate the place of the

missing letters.

Words Contractions Word Contractions
are not aren’t she had she’d
cannot can’t should not shouldn’t
could not couldn’t that is that’s
did not didn’t there is there’s
do not don’t they are they’re
does not doesn’t they have they’ve
had not hadn’t they will they’ll

Here are some examples for you to think about. Look at what letters have been dropped.
