What is Assessment?
\nAssessment is an important part of learning and teaching. It helps to provide a picture of a child\u2019s or young person\u2019s progress and achievement and to identify next steps in learning. Our assessment approaches promote learner engagement and ensure appropriate support so that all learners can achieve their goals and reach their potential.<\/p>\n
As with all aspects of CFE assessment, we aim to ensure our pupils are engaged in all aspects of assessment processes and be given an element of choice in showing that they have achieved.<\/p>\n
As our pupils move through the curriculum, they will experience a range of approaches to assessment. ‘From the pupil\u2019s point of view’ assessment will begin in nursery by focusing on personal development and feedback with experiences built around the developing child while in addition at the later phases pupils will experience assessment practices which will lead to qualifications.<\/p>\n
ASSESSMENT & REPORTING
\nTeachers are assessing children\u2019s progress continually, both informally and formally at regular intervals. \u00a0Graded reading books help teachers with assessment.
\nOpportunities for more formal discussion on the children\u2019s progress are arranged on Parents\u2019 Consultation Evenings in November, March and June.\u00a0 Opportunities for informal parent and teacher meetings are arranged throughout the school year by contacting the school office.<\/p>\n
