Clothing, Uniform & P.E. Kit<\/span> <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In Langloan Primary School, we are very proud <\/span>to wear our uniforms at all appropriate times.<\/span>
\nThe Langloan uniform currently consists of a <\/span>Black jumper\/sweatshirt with the School Badge, <\/span>black skirt or trousers. <\/span>We also wear a white Polo Shirt, or a white Shirt <\/span>and Black\/Yellow Striped Tie.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After a recent stakeholder consultation to address accessibility of brown and yellow uniform items as well as the cost of the school day, the majority of our parents\/carers\/pupils voted to change the uniform to black and white. Mrs Smith and a collection of children across the school designed a new school tie and badge.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All North Lanarkshire schools must have a dress code, <\/span>which encourages pupils to dress in a way, <\/span>
\nwhich is appropriate for attendance at school. <\/span>This dress code must not lead to direct or indirect discrimination <\/span>on the grounds of race, religion, gender or disability. <\/span>
\nPrior to drawing up the dress code the parents, pupils and staff were fully consulted. <\/span>It is the expectation of the education authority that parents <\/span>will be keen to support the dress code <\/span>
\nand written agreement may be sought.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some clothing items are unacceptable in school. This would include items which:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00b7 could potentially encourage factions (eg football colours)<\/span>
\n\u00b7 could cause offence (eg anti-religious symbolism or political slogans)<\/span>
\n\u00b7 could cause health and safety difficulties such as loose fitting clothing, dangling earrings, and other <\/span>potentially dangerous jewellery<\/span>
\n\u00b7 are of flammable materials which may be a danger in certain classes (eg shell suits)<\/span>
\n\u00b7 could cause damage to flooring<\/span>
\n\u00b7 carry advertising in particular for alcohol or tobacco<\/span>
\n\u00b7 could be used to inflict damage on other pupils or to be used by others to do so.<\/span><\/p>\n

Parents in receipt of a grant for footwear and clothing <\/span>from the council will be encouraged to purchase items, <\/span>are in accordance with the school dress code. <\/span>Approval of any requests for such grants in other circumstances <\/span>are at the discretion of the Director of Education. <\/span>Information and application forms may be obtained from any school <\/span>or area office. Parents are entitled to receive a clothing grant <\/span>
\nif they are in receipt of any of the following benefits: <\/span>income support, job seekers allowance (income based), <\/span>housing benefit, council tax rebate.<\/span><\/p>\n

The council wishes to minimise claims arising from the loss of pupils\u2019 clothing <\/span>
\nand\/or personal belongings. <\/span>Parents are asked to assist in this area by ensuring that <\/span>
\nvaluable items and unnecessarily expensive items <\/span>of clothing, jewellery, etc. are not brought to school. <\/span>
\nParents should note that any claims submitted to cover the loss of such items <\/span>are likely to be met only where the authority can be shown to have been negligent.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is necessary to consider safety within the school during such activities as P.E. <\/span>It is hoped that parents would have due regard for safety <\/span>and provide gym shoes and shorts for these lessons. <\/span>
\nJewellery should not be worn. <\/span>Pupils who have no kit or note will be offered a school kit to wear. <\/span>
\nSubsequent failure to participate could result <\/span>in the school working with the parent\/carer to resolve issues.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
