This week in Room 7 . . .

We have been setting new goals for the rest of the term. We have coloured them in with our new felt tip pens and we will pick our targets next week.

On Monday we wrote an Autumn poem. We will put them up on the wall so that everyone can read them. P2 self assessed their own poem, and P3 peer assessed theirs. We went to the library in the afternoon, and picked new books. We were using our phoneme boards to make, break and blend words.

In PE we have been doing exercises like mountain climbers, press ups, star jumps, running and we played the traffic light game on the astroturf.

In RME we have learned about Islam. Iqra was able to tell us lots about this.

We have all been on Silver this week! Some people even got to Gold!

Behind the Scenes

Here’s a sneaky look at what has been keeping our Primary 3s so busy over the last few weeks. Well done everyone, the performance is looking great and we’re all very proud of you. Well done to our Primary 2 children also, who have been helping us making props. They have been sensible, successful learners when completing their usual literacy and maths tasks with Mrs Scott while we have been busy rehearsing.

Harvest song link

We love singing our first harvest song of the year. Lots of children have been searching for it at home, or asking how to find it, so here is a link which will take you straight to it. Although the harvest service is only performed by P3 on the day, P2 children are welcome to sing along with this at home too! Song words will come home soon.

This week . . .

. . . we did some reading. Our books are Energy Boost, Dad Doesn’t Mind at All and Pip and the Bat. We learned to find information, and we did a character profile.

We learned about emotions. We all have different kinds of feelings and you are allowed to be scared and feel different emotions. We saw some mood monsters! They were angry, sad, happy, lonely, surprised and excited.

We had 6 star writers this week! Today we wrote about Matilda because it is Roald Dahl’s birthday.

We had a maths challenge this morning and we had to answer 10 questions. At the start of the week P3 learned about greedy crocodiles. They always want to eat the biggest number! P3 also learned about hundreds, tens and units. P2 learned about tens and units, and numbers before and after.

We had lots of Silver Stars today!

This Week in Room 7 . . .

We have been doing exciting writing – we wrote about the elephant in Rumble in the Jungle and we had 4 star writers.

We did some art – primary 3 children made a lion and primary 2 children made a snake. We also drew a portrait of half of our own face, and half of our friends face.

In maths, we have been learning about place value. primary 3 learned about HTU numbers and primary 2 learned about TU numbers.

We have been doing Rumble in the Jungle warm ups, GoNoodle and yoga at indoor PE. We had to help Lulu the baby Lioness learn to roar. At outdoor PE with Mrs Heron, we run around the school 2 or 3 times to warm up.

We have practised our common words, and looked at small and tall letters, and letters with tails. We read lots of books too.
