I<\/span><\/b>n room 8 we are learning about Vikings:<\/b> We are focusing our learning on the Norse gods as well as everyday Viking life.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

We will be researching where the Viking homelands are, the countries invaded, longhouses, Viking clothing, jewellery, tools and jobs. You might want to do some research at home.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are also loving learning Viking saga songs. We are using THIS<\/strong><\/a> BBC site – just click the link. <\/span><\/p>\n

BBC Teach also has some interesting Viking pages.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/b>We are trying to extend our sentences by using more interesting vocabulary and joining words.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our common words working backwards are<\/strong>: We should be able to read and spell them.<\/span><\/p>\n

As always reading is fundamentally important –\u00a0 keep reading through your chapter books and reading anything else you can get your hands on!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When you are reading think about: the characters \/ setting\/ the problem(s) and solution(s) \/ the main theme \/\u00a0 what your opinion of the story is \/ what would you change \/ do you like the author’s style \/ did you enjoy the subject …<\/span><\/p>\n

Read as big a selection of fiction and non-fiction books as you can to extend your knowledge and vocabulary.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

R<\/span><\/strong>emember to read fiction aloud with appropriate expression.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
