The UNCRC stands for the United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child. It is a legally binding international agreement that most countries in the world have signed up to and it sets out the rights of every child. The UNCRC has 54 articles that set out children\u2019s rights and it tells us how governments should work together to make them available to all children regardless of their race, religion or abilities. It also says that governments are required to meet children\u2019s basic needs and help them reach their full potential.<\/p>\n
The UNCRC says that every child has basic fundamental rights. These include the right to:<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Life, survival and development<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Protection from violence, abuse or neglect<\/p>\n
\u00b7 An education that enables children to fulfil their potential<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Be raised by, or have a relationship with, their parents<\/p>\n
\u00b7 Express their opinions and be listened to<\/p>\n

It is important to remember the ABCDE<\/strong> of rights!<\/p>\n A – Rights are for ALL<\/strong> children. Universal<\/em><\/p>\n B- Rights are there at BIRTH<\/strong>. Inherent<\/em><\/p>\n C- Rights CANNOT<\/strong> be taken away. Inalienable<\/em><\/p>\n D- Rights DO NOT<\/strong> have to be earnt. Unconditional<\/em><\/p>\n E- All rights are EQUALLY<\/strong> important.
