ECO FOCUS WEEK<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We are looking forward to an Eco focus in the week ahead.\u00a0 Whether working at home or in the building, all classes have an exciting range of activities planned that can be carried out both indoors and outside.\u00a0 We are very proud of all our Eco awards and we are not going to let this period of Lockdown get in the way of our next accreditation.\u00a0 Mrs King is leading the way, with all classes committed to supporting her in this mammoth task.\u00a0 Here we go, Team Kirkshaws to win!<\/p>\n

WORLD BOOK DAY & WORLD BOOK WEEK<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Next week also sees us celebrating World Book Week, with World Book Day falling on Thursday 4th March.\u00a0 As always, we will have a range of literacy tasks planned to encourage everyone to read more and enjoy different texts.\u00a0 Once again, this can be done at home or in school or nursery – wherever you are working this week.\u00a0 The one big difference is that those in the school building will not be dressing up or bringing their favourite books in this year – COVID restrictions remain in place, which means we do not want pupils bringing any additional items in from home.\u00a0 \u00a0Despite this, we are aiming to have plenty fun with books this week.\u00a0 Wherever you are…KEEP READING!<\/p>\n

READING BOOKS TO COLLECT<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Some classes have reading books ready to collect for the week ahead.\u00a0 Rooms 8, 10 and 15 have books ready for everyone.\u00a0 In Room 5, the Alligators, Ants and Bears also have books to collect.\u00a0 If you haven’t already collected them, please come to the front entrance early in the week, avoiding 9am and 3pm if possible.<\/p>\n

Please return any books you already have at home before taking your new set. Thank you.<\/p>\n

DIGITAL DEVICES<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We continue to work in partnership with NLC to ensure digital devices are provided to those families who find it impossible to get online.\u00a0 Our latest set of laptops have now been distributed.\u00a0 If your circumstances have changed and you find your child needs a device to access home learning, please call the school office and we will put a plan in place to help you.<\/p>\n

PARENT COUNCIL UPDATE<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

During this period of blended learning, our Parent Council continues to work remotely too.\u00a0 They are still functioning to support the needs of the whole school community.\u00a0 If you want to contact the Parent Council, this can be done by contacting the school office in the first instance and you will be put in touch with a member of the committee.<\/p>\n

REPORTS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Under normal circumstances we would send written reports home before Easter.\u00a0 This year, we realise parents are more aware that ever before of exactly what their children are learning.\u00a0 We know that parents are emailing staff regularly and have a very clear picture of their child’s areas of strength and where they need more support.\u00a0 As a result, we have decided to send our written reports home in May\/June this year, allowing teachers to assess progress further on their return to full time face to face teaching.<\/p>\n
