{"id":398,"date":"2015-10-22T08:47:22","date_gmt":"2015-10-22T08:47:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/kirkshawswebsite\/?p=398"},"modified":"2015-10-23T09:12:23","modified_gmt":"2015-10-23T09:12:23","slug":"football-friendly-league-wed-21st-oct-v-st-marys","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/kirkshawswebsite\/2015\/10\/22\/football-friendly-league-wed-21st-oct-v-st-marys\/","title":{"rendered":"Football Friendly League: Wed 21st Oct v St Mary&#8217;s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today our Primary 7 football team took part in their first fixture of the Coatbridge Football Friendly League. \u00a0Our team of 10 players went along to St Andrew&#8217;s High School to play against St Mary&#8217;s Primary School.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Gall sent minute by minute updates back to Mr Sharp, who was sitting nervously back in school.<\/p>\n<p>We went down 2-0 after only a couple of minutes but, thanks to a quick reply from Graeme Mitchell, we scored to get back in the game.<\/p>\n<p>Then disaster struck: 3-1 to St Mary&#8217;s and it looked like we were going to have a tough afternoon. \u00a0 The half-time whistle blew and Mr Gall had a chat with the team about our formation and told us to keep going!<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately just after half-time St Mary&#8217;s scored again to make it 4-1 then then hit the crossbar from a shot. \u00a0Phew!<\/p>\n<p>So you would think that we all gave up and just accepted defeat&#8230;no chance!<\/p>\n<p>Graeme showed some skills once again to score and make it 4-2! \u00a0Then Kyle came off the bench to make an instant impact. \u00a0Graeme passed to Kyle and when the keeper came out to close him down he simply passed the ball into the net. 4-3!<\/p>\n<p>Time was quickly running out for us and back at school Mr Sharp and the rest of the staff were thinking game over&#8230;once again we didn&#8217;t give up.<\/p>\n<p>Kyle found himself just outside the box with only a couple of minutes to go and decided to have a shot. \u00a0The ball flew off his boot, time stood still. \u00a0Was it going in? \u00a0Would Kirkshaws complete a miraculous comeback? \u00a0Or did Kyle fluff his chance to be a hero?<\/p>\n<p>Of course he scored &#8211; Kyle (the Kirkshaws saviour) &#8211; rescued a precious point in our first game of the Friendship League and we now look forward to playing our next match in November against St Bartholomew&#8217;s!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FINAL SCORE: \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0St Mary&#8217;s 4 &#8211; Kirkshaws 4 (Mitchell 2, Taylor 2)<\/p>\n<p>MOM: Kyle Taylor<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today our Primary 7 football team took part in their first fixture of the Coatbridge Football Friendly League. \u00a0Our team of 10 players went along to St Andrew&#8217;s High School to play against St Mary&#8217;s Primary School.
