My goodness … June already?!<\/p>\n
We have certainly made the most of the fabulous weather this week to take our learning outdoors.\u00a0 From P.E. to Maths and Literacy, there are groups of learners wherever you turn.\u00a0 I am delighted to report that we are a step closer to making our outdoor space completely secure.\u00a0 After the trial month, with the access gates closed throughout the school day, we will move next week to locked gates.\u00a0 Between the hours of 9.15 am and 2.45 pm, access to the school will be through the front gate on Old Monkland Road only, whilst nursery access will be through the lane on Kirkshaws Avenue.\u00a0 You may have also noticed that the front fence is ‘growing’, stretching down to meet the gate.\u00a0 By next week we hope to have both playgrounds completely secure.\u00a0 There is still a long term plan to raise the boundary fence at the front of the school to 2 metres, but there is no date set for this yet.<\/p>\n
We were also in talks with NL Leisure this week about the possibility of acquiring some loose-parts play equipment we can build into the learning in both the nursery and Primary 1 classes.\u00a0 It is our long-term aim to make the courtyard garden into an Early Level learning environment and this will go a long way to helping us on our way.<\/p>\n
Sticking with the outdoor theme – you should see where I am working from this evening!\u00a0 I am with our fabulous P.7 pupils in sunny Oban.\u00a0 I left school in a thunderstorm, with the threat of flooding and road-closures at 3pm, but by 7pm I was back in the sunshine, gazing out over a calm sea.\u00a0 I am delighted to report that I have never been prouder of this great group of pupils.\u00a0 They have thrown themselves into life at Kilbowie with the same enthusiasm I have come to expect.\u00a0 They continue to demonstrate our core values at every opportunity: Respect; Resilience; Friendship; Trust & Honesty<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0 Each one is a credit to their families.<\/p>\n It is 10.30, and I can assure you everyone is in good spirits as we begin to settle down for the night.\u00a0 We will be up bright and early – ready to make some memories.\u00a0 So from the peace and tranquility of sunny Oban, I wish you Good Night!<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" My goodness … June already?!
