{"id":1726,"date":"2018-02-17T08:56:43","date_gmt":"2018-02-17T08:56:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/kirkshawswebsite\/?p=1726"},"modified":"2018-02-17T22:10:41","modified_gmt":"2018-02-17T22:10:41","slug":"mrs-ns-notes-14-16-february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/kirkshawswebsite\/2018\/02\/17\/mrs-ns-notes-14-16-february\/","title":{"rendered":"Mrs N&#8217;s Notes ~ 14-16 February"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It might have been a short week, but we&#8217;ve still managed to fit in an unbelievable amount of work!<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve been into school this week, you probably noticed a few changes underway.\u00a0 We are re-vamping our wall displays and reorganising space to make the most of our learning environment.\u00a0 You may see that our Wider Achievements wall is no longer outside the office&#8230;but DON&#8217;T WORRY!\u00a0 It is still thriving, but is now in our dinner hall.\u00a0 It will continue to grow and celebrate our successes in a space where all pupils can see it on a daily basis.\u00a0 Thanks to Ms Watson and Mrs Payne it looks fabulous in its new location.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Stewart and Mrs Dillon have also been working away behind the scenes to support all our readers.\u00a0 New Story Sacks have been organised into a lending library, allowing all Primary 1 pupils and their families the chance to share books, games and toys of a similar theme for a week.\u00a0 Just remember to bring it back every Friday to swap it for another!\u00a0 The ladies have also been organising new reading resources for older classes too.\u00a0 Look out for new, exciting texts coming home.<\/p>\n<p>The Library is also undergoing a few changes&#8230;no photos yet, but we&#8217;ll keep you posted when it is ready for the grand unveiling!\u00a0 Mr Bradley has given himself a real workout this week moving furniture all over the school&#8230;he&#8217;ll be glad when it is finished too!\u00a0 It is our intention to have a Literacy Hub here; a resource where classes, families and parents can meet together, read together, borrow books, carry out research and complete homework.<\/p>\n<p>Nursery Staff have been reorganising their different experience areas and continuing to review the best use of our learning space there too.\u00a0 Always looking to improve here at Kirkshaws!<\/p>\n<p>As well as that, our parent helpers, or Resource Ladies as we call them, worked a shift and a half this week!\u00a0 This loyal band of parents (and ex-parents) didn&#8217;t get a minute for a break on Thursday morning as they copied, laminated, cut, folded and stapled&#8230; Basically, we couldn&#8217;t survive without them.\u00a0 Thank you, ladies!!<\/p>\n<p>Teaching staff haven&#8217;t been taking it easy either&#8230;a new Learning &amp; Teaching policy and a step closer to our completed Curriculum Rationale were just two of our tasks on Wednesday.\u00a0 (In-Service Days are not days off for staff \ud83d\ude01)<\/p>\n<p>I hope you have had the chance to read the new Anti-Bullying Policy that came home on Thursday.\u00a0 As explained in the letter, we welcome any feedback you have on this.\u00a0 Our pupils have also shown an interest in developing this further in school.\u00a0 We are forming two new groups next week; a <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Playground Charter Committee<\/span> and an <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Advertising Team<\/span> who will work together to ensure all Kirkshaws pupils are supported as we implement this.<\/p>\n<p>As well as that, learning continued as planned in each class, and we had the chance to celebrate the successes of all our Marvellous Mathematicians at Assembly on Friday!<\/p>\n<p>YIp&#8230;just a short week at Kirkshaws&#8230;nothing much happening \ud83e\udd23<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It might have been a short week, but we&#8217;ve still managed to fit in an unbelievable amount of work!
