{"id":1383,"date":"2017-12-15T16:21:11","date_gmt":"2017-12-15T16:21:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/kirkshawswebsite\/?p=1383"},"modified":"2017-12-15T22:02:01","modified_gmt":"2017-12-15T22:02:01","slug":"mrs-ns-notes-15th-december","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/kirkshawswebsite\/2017\/12\/15\/mrs-ns-notes-15th-december\/","title":{"rendered":"Mrs N&#8217;s Notes 15th December"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As the song goes&#8230;&#8221;It&#8217;s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!&#8221;\u00a0 What a fantastic week, building up to our Christmas celebrations.\u00a0 Christmas Art and Christmas activities are popping up all over the school if you take the time to look around.\u00a0 Whether it is learning about trees and plants, or ordering coins&#8230;Kirkshaws teachers can skilfully turn it into a seasonal lesson across all learning.<\/p>\n<p>We have also had many <em>out-of-the-ordinary<\/em> activities over recent days too.\u00a0 Rooms 4 &amp; 5 organised their own Christmas Enterprise events, successfully selling all their products.\u00a0 It was so encouraging to see the huge turn-out of parents and friends for both events.\u00a0 Thank you to everyone who helped out before or on the day.<\/p>\n<p>We have all been practising hard for our\u00a0<strong>Super Christmas<\/strong> show next week.\u00a0 I can tell you, you are in for a treat!\u00a0 If you haven&#8217;t bought your tickets yet, call into the office on Monday &#8211; there may still be one or two left!\u00a0 Our Nursery have already wowed their audience with their fantastic performances in their Nativity.\u00a0 They have set the bar high &#8211; now it&#8217;s up to the school pupils to live up to the high standards they have set.\u00a0 They also visited St James&#8217; Way towards the end of the week&#8230;Busy Bees!<\/p>\n<p>Christmas Lunch went well on Tuesday, thanks to all the staff and volunteers who served the food to all our young diners.\u00a0 The catering staff, as always, delivered the feast with a smile, despite the huge pressure they were under to produce such a huge quantity of turkey!\u00a0 What an achievement.<\/p>\n<p>Then the parties started today,\u00a0with Primaries 6 &amp; 7 leading the way.\u00a0 Fun and laughter all around as they danced, sang and played traditional party games.\u00a0 In recognition of the vast amount of work our senior pupils take on around the school, we set a more grown-up table for these young people.\u00a0 A few extra treats because they deserve it!<\/p>\n<p>However, &#8216;<em>normal<\/em>&#8216; work continues as well.\u00a0 Mr Sharp and I attended a Mental Agility Meeting with local schools, discussing how we can ensure each school is delivering a suitably challenging level of work across all stages.\u00a0 That&#8217;s the challenge we will take on over coming months.\u00a0 Miss Clowes, Mr Haggarty and I were on different training courses this week too, all of them encouraging us to look at the nurturing environment Kirkshaws Primary is to all its pupils.<\/p>\n<p>But one of the most important tasks I carried out this week was the interview for our new<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"> Acting Principal Teacher<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0 I am delighted to announce that <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Mrs McGarry<\/span><\/strong> will take on this role when we return to school in January.\u00a0 I am sure you will join me in congratulating Mrs McGarry on this well-earned promotion.<\/p>\n<p>No such thing as WINDING DOWN FOR CHRISTMAS at Kirkshaws!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; As the song goes&#8230;&#8221;It&#8217;s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!&#8221;\u00a0 What a fantastic week, building up to our Christmas celebrations.\u00a0 Christmas Art and Christmas activities are popping up all over the school if you take the time to look around.\u00a0 Whether it is learning about trees and plants, or ordering coins&#8230;Kirkshaws teachers can skilfully turn it into a seasonal lesson across all learning.
