They also develop skills in reading and interpreting working drawings and related documents as well as an understanding of health and safety.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Through this, they develop skills, knowledge and understanding of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0metalworking techniques<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0measuring and marking out metal sections and sheet materials<\/li>\n<li>safe working practices in workshop environments<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0practical creativity and problem-solving skills<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0sustainability issues in a practical metalworking context<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pupils will gain experience in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>marking out<\/li>\n<li>cutting<\/li>\n<li>shaping<\/li>\n<li>turning<\/li>\n<li>welding<br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the full SQA course specification, click the link below:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/public\/kilsythacademytechnical\/uploads\/sites\/26599\/2018\/06\/PracticalMetalworkingCourseSpecificationN5.pdf\">PracticalMetalworkingCourseSpecificationN5<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As part of the practical activity, pupils are also expected to produce a log book, detailing how they carried out the tasks.
