Candidates research topics, apply scientific skills and communicate information related to their findings, which develops skills of scientific literacy.<br \/>\nThe course content includes the following areas of physics:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff00ff\"><strong>Dynamics<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">In this area, the topics covered are: vectors and scalars; velocity\u2013time graphs; acceleration; Newton\u2019s laws; energy; projectile motion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff00ff\"><strong>Space<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nIn this area, the topics covered are: space exploration; cosmology.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff\">Electricity<\/span> <\/strong><br \/>\nIn this area, the topics covered are: electrical charge carriers; potential difference (voltage);<br \/>\nOhm\u2019s law; practical electrical and electronic circuits; electrical power.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff00ff\"><strong>Properties of Matter<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nIn this area, the topics covered are: specific heat capacity; specific latent heat; gas laws and the kinetic model.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff00ff\"><strong>Waves<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nIn this area, the topics covered are: wave parameters and behaviours; electromagnetic spectrum; refraction of light.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff00ff\"><strong>Radiation<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nIn this area, the topic covered is nuclear radiation<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><u>Recommended Entry <\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nEntry to this course is at the discretion of<br \/>\nthe centre.<br \/>\nCandidates should have achieved the fourth curriculum level or the National 4 Physics course or equivalent qualifications and\/or<br \/>\nexperience prior to starting this course.
