{"id":33,"date":"2018-05-29T19:17:58","date_gmt":"2018-05-29T19:17:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/kilsythacademybusiness\/?page_id=33"},"modified":"2024-05-28T11:25:16","modified_gmt":"2024-05-28T11:25:16","slug":"business-management-higher","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/kilsythacademybusiness\/business-management-higher\/","title":{"rendered":"Business Management &#8211; Higher"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Who is this course for?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>This course is particularly relevant for those pupils who have an interest in business in the widest sense, not just those who want to start their own business.\u00a0 There will be regular reference to business in the news so pupils should keep up to date with what is happening in world.<\/p>\n<p>The course comprises of 3 units.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Understanding Business<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>In this unit pupils will develop their understanding of the ways in which organisations in the private, public and third sectors operate.\u00a0This unit also allows pupils to analyse the impact that<br \/>\nthe internal and the external environment has on an organisation\u2019s activity.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Management of People and Finance<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In this unit pupils will develop skills and knowledge that will deepen their understanding\u00a0 of the issues facing organisations in the management of people and finance. Pupils will extend their grasp of relevant theories, concepts and procedures used in planning for an organisation\u2019s success, including leadership, motivation and finance.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Management of Marketing and Operations<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>In this unit pupils will develop their knowledge of the importance to organisations of having effective marketing and operations systems.\u00a0 They will develop knowledge of relevant theories, concepts and procedures used by organisations in order to improve and\/or maintain quality and competitiveness.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Higher Assessment<\/strong><br \/>\nPupils will complete a 2,000 word Assignment worth 30 marks.\u00a0 Pupils will carry out research on a business issue of their choice.\u00a0 They will then write up their report under exam conditions. The SQA exam which is worth 90 marks is allocated 2 hours 45 minutes.\u00a0 Both of these course components are marked by SQA markers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Who is this course for?
