{"id":202,"date":"2018-06-12T12:49:26","date_gmt":"2018-06-12T12:49:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/kilsythacademybusiness\/?page_id=202"},"modified":"2018-06-14T11:12:15","modified_gmt":"2018-06-14T11:12:15","slug":"admin-it-higher","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/kilsythacademybusiness\/admin-it-higher\/","title":{"rendered":"Admin &amp; IT &#8211; Higher"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Who is this course for?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The course is suitable for pupils who are interested in the management functions of administration and advanced uses of digital technology, and who want to develop these skills further.<\/p>\n<p>The Course aims to enable pupils to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>develop knowledge and understanding of administration in the workplace and its importance<\/li>\n<li>develop a range of advanced IT skills for processing and managing information<\/li>\n<li>develop a range of skills to communicate complex information effectively, making appropriate use of IT<\/li>\n<li>acquire skills in managing the organisation of events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The course consists of two areas of study:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Administrative theory and practice <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pupils develop their understanding of the factors contributing to an efficient administrative function. These include time and task management, effective teams, complying with workplace legislation, the impact of digital technologies, and customer care.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IT applications <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pupils develop skills in organising and managing information using digital technology in administrative contexts. They use software application functions to analyse, process and manage information, in order to create and edit complex business documents. Candidates develop an understanding of barriers to communication and ways of overcoming them to ensure communication is effective. They also develop skills, knowledge and understanding of how to maintain the security and confidentiality of information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Pupils will be issued with regular homework and most, if not all, of which will be up-loaded onto\u00a0<strong><em>Show My Homework.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Higher Assessment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Assessment comprises of<b>\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0a question paper, covering admin theory and practice which is worth 50 marks.\u00a0 Pupils will have one hour and 30 minutes to complete it.\u00a0 Pupils also complete an\u00a0assignment to test their IT skills. 70 marks are allocated for this.\u00a0 Candidates will have 2 hours under exam conditions to complete it.\u00a0 Both components are marked by SQA markers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Who is this course for?
