We were delighted to welcome our new S1<\/strong> pupils to the Academy and wish them all every success in the years to come. They are all looking extremely smart and have made a very enthusiastic start to High School life. Well done to pupils from last session\u2019s S4, S5<\/strong> and S6<\/strong> on their achievements in SQA examinations.<\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s leavers are now embarking on either new courses in Further or Higher Education, or on new careers and we wish them every success. We look forward to hearing about their continued achievements, in the years ahead. A number of former pupils also graduated over the summer and our warmest congratulations go to them.<\/p>\n

New Staff<\/u><\/strong>
\nWe are pleased to welcome a number of new staff to the Academy: Mrs Fox \u2013 Depute Head Teacher, Mr McGinley \u2013 PT Pupil Support Dumbreck House<\/strong> and Miss O\u2019Hare \u2013 Teacher of Chemistry.<\/strong>\u00a0 We hope that they will all greatly enjoy their time in Kilsyth Academy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI)<\/u><\/strong>
\nAfter another very successful year running the YPI<\/strong> programme our S4 pupils again participated in the launch of this year\u2019s programme last Friday.\u00a0 They heard more about the YPI <\/strong>programme, considered philanthropy and specifically the important role of 3rd<\/sup> sector charity organisations in our community.\u00a0 Embarking upon this programme our S4<\/strong> pupils will now investigate and identify a charity they want to champion for a grant of \u00a33000.\u00a0<\/strong> We look forward to our class and school finals later in the session.<\/p>\n

\nFollowing their success in New York earlier in the year, Kilsyth Academy pupils Luke Shearer<\/strong> and Callum McGoldrick<\/strong> tasted success at the World Pipe Band Championships at Glasgow Green over the 16th<\/sup> and 17th<\/sup> August.\u00a0 Luke was a member of the Novice A band who crowned world champions in their section adding to their British and European titles. Callum, playing in his first world championships, performed with the Novice B band coming 3rd<\/sup> in their section.\u00a0 Former pupil<\/p>\n

was also a member of the world championship winning band.\u00a0 Our congratulations go to all three on a really amazing achievement.<\/p>\n

Dates for your diary<\/u><\/strong>
\nThe first meeting of our Parent Council, our annual AGM, will take place on Monday 16th September, at 6.30 p.m., in the school hall.\u00a0 This is also a meeting of the parent forum where all parents are welcome to attend.<\/p>\n
