The Snug \u2013 Official Opening<\/u><\/strong>
\nLast week saw the official opening of our school nurture base \u201cThe Snug\u201d<\/strong><\/em> by Provost Jean Jones<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 The school would like to extend thanks to everyone who attended.<\/p>\n

\n

End of term trips<\/u><\/strong>
\nPupils in S1 to S3 again have the opportunity to go to either M&D\u2019s or Blackpool Pleasure Beach at the end of term.\u00a0 This is a reminder that payment of the full balance is now due and should be handed in as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

\n

Rights Respecting Workshop<\/u><\/strong>
\nEarlier this week all S1 pupils participated in a Rights Respecting workshop focused on the UNCRC<\/strong> Rights of the child.\u00a0 This important strand of our work, to embed children\u2019s rights into the fabric of our ethos and values, will support us to reach our next goal of achieving Silver status as a rights aware school.<\/p>\n

Tinto Hill Climb<\/u><\/strong>
\nOn Monday, 43 of our S1 pupils, supported by staff, got their walking boots on to raise money for St Andrew\u2019s Hospice taking part in their annual climb of Tinto Hill.\u00a0 Pupils tackled this challenge with real enthusiasm, supporting the important work of St Andrew\u2019s<\/strong> in the process.\u00a0 Well done to everyone taking part.<\/p>\n

Leadership Academy \u2013 Kilbowie Outdoor Centre<\/u><\/strong>
\nLast weekend saw our S2 aspiring leaders participate in our annual Leadership Training Academy at Kilbowie in Oban.\u00a0 Led by our S3 Leaders, pupils participated in a range of challenging outdoor activities designed to challenge and stretch them to solve problems, communicate, work with others and ultimately take the lead.<\/p>\n

\n

European Parliamentary Elections<\/u><\/strong>
\nFurther to the letter recently emailed to parents, a reminder that as Kilsyth Academy is used as an official polling station the school will be closed to all pupils, other than those sitting SQA exams on Thursday 23 May for the upcoming European election.\u00a0 Should these elections be cancelled school will open as normal.<\/p>\n

\n

Mid-term holiday<\/u><\/strong>
\nThe school will be closed<\/strong><\/em><\/span> to pupils on Friday 24th<\/sup> <\/strong><\/em><\/span>and Monday 27th<\/sup> May<\/span><\/strong> for the mid-term holiday.\u00a0 Pupils sitting SQA exams on either of those days should attend for their exam as normal at the time specified on their individual school exam timetable.\u00a0 Information has been provided to pupils with exams on these days.<\/p>\n

\n

Dates for you diary<\/u><\/strong>
\nTuesday 28th<\/sup> May<\/em> <\/span>\u2013 School uniform sales will take place in the school caf\u00e9 from 5.00 to 8.00pm.<\/p>\n

Wednesday 29th May<\/span> \u2013 Parent Council meeting \u2013 7.00pm<\/p>\n

Monday 3rd<\/sup> June<\/span> \u2013 Pupils return from study leave.\u00a0 New timetable begins<\/p>\n
