{"id":608,"date":"2018-09-17T21:18:47","date_gmt":"2018-09-17T21:18:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/kilsythacademy\/?p=608"},"modified":"2018-09-17T21:51:54","modified_gmt":"2018-09-17T21:51:54","slug":"kilsyth-academy-news-14-9-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/kilsythacademy\/2018\/09\/17\/kilsyth-academy-news-14-9-18\/","title":{"rendered":"Kilsyth Academy News &#8211;  14\/09\/18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>Teachers Go Bald for Cancer<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nLast Friday, Teachers and Pupils braved the cut of the scissors and the buzz of the trimmer to either go bald, or donate pony tails as part of or charity drive to support the <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Teenage Cancer Trust<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 TCT are currently looking after our very own <span style=\"color: #ff00ff\"><strong>Nicole Lowther<\/strong><\/span> who was regretfully diagnosed with <strong>Hogkins Lymphoma<\/strong> before the summer.\u00a0 As a show of support for Nicole the entire school came together for this event in what has been an incredible display of school and community spirit.\u00a0 Special thanks go to <strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff\">Mrs Jayne Gordon<\/span> (RMPS teacher)<\/strong> and <strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff\">Ms Lynne Forster<\/span> (AFA)<\/strong> for coming up with the idea and organizing the event.\u00a0 Both Mrs Gordon and Ms Forster together with <strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff\">Mr Rennie<\/span> (Maths)<\/strong> and <strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff\">Mr Orrock<\/span> (Head Teacher)<\/strong> were fully shaved whilst <strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff\">Mrs Kay<\/span> (Depute Head Teacher)<\/strong> and two pupils, <span style=\"color: #ff00ff\"><strong>Rachel Egan<\/strong><\/span> and<span style=\"color: #ff00ff\"><strong> Emma Carrigan<\/strong><\/span> donated ponytails.\u00a0 Fundraising has now reached ove<span style=\"color: #ff0000\">r <em><strong>\u00a312000<\/strong><\/em> <\/span>and is that total is still rising.\u00a0 You can read more about this on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kilsythacademy.org.uk\/\">School web-site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>STEM Club<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nA Science, Technologies, Engineering and Maths club will be up and running Wednesday lunch times as of 19th September!
