<\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\nThree members of the Pupil Council \u2013 Ross Chalmers<\/strong>, Karis Abercrombie<\/strong> and Chanelle Gallagher<\/strong> \u2013 represented the school at the recent Children and Young People\u2019s Regional Summit, held in Oban. Discussion centred around Attainment, Rural challenges, Participation and Rights and a Fairer Scotland. The young people also enjoyed meeting the First Minister.<\/span><\/p>\nThe S6 group which intends applying to Higher Education courses had a very useful workshop with Professor Kevin O\u2019Gorman<\/strong>, from Heriot-Watt University last week. Professor O\u2019Gorman provided advice on the range and types of courses that are available and how to tackle a Personal Statement. This was followed by a similar session for parents, in the evening.<\/span><\/p>\nAssemblies, for pupils in S4, S5 and S6, had input from St Andrew\u2019s Hospice last week. The pupils found out about the work of the Hospice, the cost of running it and how they can assist with fundraising, through participation in the forthcoming Fun Run. <\/span><\/p>\nS5\/6 pupils studying Lifeskills Mathematics took part in a whole day workshop, looking at Financial Education. Much of the content will be relevant to their coursework, over the coming months.<\/span><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/span>Plans are underway for overseas trips to Berlin and Barcelona, at the end of this session. Mr Stevenson<\/strong> can provide details of the Berlin trip and Mr Buchanan<\/strong> and Mr Urquhart<\/strong> have all the information about the Spain trip.<\/span><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/span>The Parent Council is running a Charity Quiz Night in the school cafeteria, on Thursday 1st<\/span><\/sup> October, starting at 7.15 p.m. We hope that there will be a good response from parents, who are welcome to come along either as teams of 4-6 people or we are happy to make up teams on the night. The entry fee is \u00a35 per team and this includes refreshments. There will also be a tombola. During the interval, there will be a very short AGM of the Parent Forum and members will be happy to chat to anyone who might consider joining the Parent Council. <\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
