From Primary 5 the children are involved in a range of primary\/secondary transition events.\u00a0 These include curricular events such as Science, Maths Challenges, Enterprise related activities and opportunities for secondary teachers to participate in inter-disciplinary learning within Kildrum.\u00a0 Senior leaders and class teachers visit classes to view children\u2019s work and attainment.\u00a0 Primary 7 children attend Cumbernauld Academy for three days in June to experience a secondary programme and timetable.\u00a0 Kildrum staff ensure that all the relevant information is passed on to each child\u2019s receiving school.<\/p>\n

Placing requests to primary school do not necessarily ensure that your child will have direct entry to the associated secondary. \u00a0Advice on this must be sought from the primary school head teacher. \u00a0All placing request details and procedures are available from the council\u2019s website.\u00a0 Pupils normally transfer from primary to secondary school between the ages of eleven and a half and twelve and a half years of age, so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. \u00a0Parents\/carers will be informed of the arrangements no later than December of the year preceding the date of transfer at the start of the new session.\u00a0 Our pupils usually transfer to Cumbernauld Academy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
