Mathematics and Numeracy are important skills for everyday life. They help children solve problems, make decisions, think logically and understand the world around them.
At Kildrum Primary School, we want children to develop confidence and enjoyment in Mathematics while building strong skills for learning, life and work.
Through Mathematics and Numeracy, children learn to:
- use numbers confidently in everyday situations
- solve problems and explain their thinking
- develop accuracy and mental maths skills
- understand patterns, shapes, measures and data
- apply their learning in real-life contexts
- build confidence, perseverance and resilience
We teach Mathematics through a range of engaging and active learning experiences. Children are encouraged to explore, investigate, discuss and apply their learning in meaningful ways.
Numeracy skills are developed across the curriculum, with opportunities to use mathematics in areas such as Science, Technologies and Interdisciplinary Learning. This helps children see the relevance of mathematics in everyday life and understand how it can be used in different situations.
By developing strong mathematical skills and a positive attitude towards learning, we help children become confident problem-solvers who are well prepared for the future.
