Our first magazine has been published!

After a few weeks of working hard to write interesting articles and make fun quizzes, we have published our first ever edition of the new Dunrobin magazine, “2 Cool 4 School”. It has been flying off the shelves, with orders for almost 100 copies!

We hope you enjoy reading it and we’re looking forward to starting work on our next edition after the Easter holidays.

A Ride Up The Mountains

bikesRecently I went on my very first mountain bike ride up Glentress in Peebles. I went with my mum, dad and my brother. It was really tough going up and even tougher coming down. There were  mini jumps and sharp muddy corners. The reason it was tougher going down was pulling your brakes and it was sore on your hands.

There was wonderful views and benches you could have a rest on. There is 3 different tracks to go on, there is blue, red and black but black is the toughest one.

It was an amazing experience and I came out very dirty 😆 . My dad said that if you don’t get muddy you have not enjoyed it.  In total, we cycled 14 miles and over 1000 feet high.

the story of the destroyed memorial trees!

Last night, two of our journalists went to the memorial garden beside their houses. At the garden we did an interview.  You might be wondering why we talked about the trees, well the reason we did that was because in Primary 5 we planted them, but teenagers pulled them out. This upset the people who planted them (which was us: the children now in primary 6 RM 14). These trees would have made the memorial garden really nice and given us more clean oxygen. If you would like to see our video here it is down below.

Bag Packing

Recently I went to Morrison’s  to bag pack with my dads cycling club. We did it for Airdrie Food Bank. We raised a lot of money because we ran out of  buckets which we put the money in. Each family got to work at a check out . Me, my brother and my dad got to do, I think, about five bags. We also got to do my grans which was quite cool 😎 . I had a very fun time and I hope we can do it again 😆 canvasbag

Katie and Rachel interview Mrs Watters

Recently two of our junior journalists interviewed the head teacher of Dunrobin (Mrs Watters). They asked her about the new school that is being built in the ground beside our school. The new school will be an amalgamation between Dunrobin and Petersburn Primaries. We are very excited to see how it will look. You can watch our interview here.

HAVE A LOOK. WE HOPE YOU ENJOY !

Making our Magazine

GEDV0040

Our Junior Journalists have been working hard to create our first edition of our school magazine. They are creating interesting articles about the learning in each class, any visitors we have had to the school and some children are even writing stories and comic strips to entertain you. We don’t yet have a name for our magazine, so if you have any ideas, please let us know!

Welcome to the Junior Journalists’ Blog

This week, some of the children from Primaries 4 – 7 in Dunrobin Primary School became members of an exciting new after schools club – Junior Journalists. Our journalists are working hard to produce a school magazine and a news channel, where they will film and edit news reports and upload them to Glow. We’re looking forward to seeing our first magazine in print!
