End Of An Era
The time has come, leaving school is around the corner. We will soon be abandoning the place we’ve grown to love and helped us blossom into the young people we are today.
As a group we remember hating high school throughout the first few years but as time passed it began to shape us into the people we are today and taught us valuable life-long lessons. Such as the ability to interact and bond with others, as well as the confidence to express ourselves. Which we believe at the end of the day to be more important that any exam we’ve ever sat.
Although our experience has had it’s ups and downs, it is a journey we will never forget. With this new path unfolding comes the pressure of entering the working world and fitting into modern society. Keeping in mind it is a stressful and hectic time, it is important to cherish our remaining days of school life with our close peers.
Reminiscing on past events such as the various school trips to light-water valley, the S5 ceilidh, the recent Victoria Park party and so much more!
Anticipating the S6 annual prom, summer holidays with friends and our last ever moments together as a year group.
As it all comes to an emotional end, we have realised that without St Aidan’s High School we would not have had the same opportunities, friendships and fond memories, that we will hold close to our hearts for the rest of our lives. ❤️

90th Academy Awards
Here’s what you missed at this years Oscar awards ceremony, hosted for the second time by Jimmy Kimmel.
Under the current climate, movements such as Me Too and Times Up have been a prominent feature of awards season this year. However as the biggest night in film the academy pressed for the event to be focused on just that, the films, and not the politics. Rather a night for the biggest names in the industry to put on their prettiest frocks and celebrate their success by accepting little gold men.
Speaking of prettiest frocks, Get Out star Allison Williams stole the spotlight on the carpet in Armani Privé Couture and Brian Atwood shoes.
As for the best dressed man of the evening, Call Me By Your Name star Armie Hammer stepped out on the carpet in a stunning velvet Giorgio Armani suit and bow tie.
New stars to look out for include the incredibly talented star of Oscar nominated Call Me By Your Name and ladybird, Timothee Chalamet. Also Get Out and Black Panther star Daniel Kaluuya. After his success at the BAFTAs, picking up their Rising Star Award, his face and name are quickly becoming familiar in Hollywood’s spotlight. He was nominated for Best Actor In A Leading Role in his debut leading role.
The Shape Of Water directed by Guillermo Del Toro won Best Picture as expected.

Robert Burns Day
To celebrate the life and work of Robert Burns, St Aidan’s High School’s librarian Miss McGough organised a ‘Shortbread and Poetry’ event with tea and coffee at interval for staff to enjoy. The celebration took place in the school’s library and staff from the English, Social Subjects and RE departments attended along with the Guidance staff and Mrs Connelly, the head teacher.
There was plenty of entertainment! S2 pupil, Lucy Graham recited Burns’ poem ‘To a Louse’ and S2 pupil Esther O’Hara gave a short presentation on Burns. To finish off the event S4 pupil Molly Burton sang a touching acapella rendition of ‘Ae Fond Kiss’.
Librarian Miss McGough commented on the event ‘The girls gave engaging and powerful performances and Molly’s rendition of ‘Ae Fond Kiss’ was beautiful. It’s important to celebrate the poetry of Robert Burns and keep the Scots language alive and celebrating his work is the way to do so.’
Snow Day January 17th 2018
From just over 1000 pupils to 295 in the space of a day. Today will consist of deserted hallways and classrooms, and no doubt even more of that brilliantly white snow. It’s just like we are all back in December of 2010, when most if not all schools were closed, some closed for a week. Even though pupils from different towns are snowed in and cannot make school, the pupils that are here are making most of the snow. When you walk out for break/lunch, you’ll find yourself ducking for cover from the snowballs zooming past your head.

Scream Above The Sounds is the Brit-Pop band’s 10th studio album reaching the top of the Scottish Albums charts. I personally really like this album as it has that massive sound that the Stereophonics are famous for.

The albums first track “Wall Of Glass” was released as a single and reached number 60 on the Official UK Charts on June 2nd. I think this album is definitely worth listening to as it features Liam’s very recognizable acoustic sound.

This is my personal favourite album, Mason’s back with his new album. My favourite track is “We Know Where you ******* Live” with its hard hitting choruses that really stay in your head.
Portfolio Musing
Being a creative person I am inspired by everything around me. This has resulted in me creating an almost mini-portfolio in my spare time for my own pleasure and enjoyment. This small collection of pieces and photographs consists of images of days out, trips away, nature, and even day to day objects from the kitchen! I enjoy focusing on swiftly sketching or photographing what I am surrounded by and I am amazed by the different techniques, colours and creative processes I can apply to my work. This is a small gallery of my recent work that I would like to share.

Facing Fear
When face to face with your biggest fear, you can be overcome by a wave of anxiety and dread, and there are only two options of survival. Fight or flight. Flight results in forever being afraid, and fight allows you to conquer your phobia. From quivering at the mere word ,’snake’, I found myself to be staring right in the eyes of the creature itself. I am flooded with terror. Yet all of a sudden, the soft snake is resting in my trembling hands, with my heart still beating wildly in my chest, I could slowly feel the tension drain from my body. My phobia no longer controls me, I am proud.
