Staff and Pupils have been busy in the Religious Education Department. Pupils have been involved in various visits and helping others and the Caritas class has been active as always.
Just before the Christmas holidays the Caritas class went to the local supermarket, Morrisons to raise funds for the Parent Council, that are going to be used for improvement of the school. Pupils raised an amazing amount of over £1000, and the Parent Council received £780 to use for school while the pupils who raised the money took the rest to distribute it to the two departments of their choice.
Fr. Magill, parish priest of St. Athanasius Church in Carluke visited our schools Caritas class to teach them different ways of praying, meditation and contemplation.
The school has also celebrated the centenary of Catholic schools by hosting a Prayer Breakfast, inviting different people along, as well as Pupils from local Primary Schools, which have raised money, together with the staff donations to the Alternative Christmas Cards, for Mary’s Meals. All donations to Mary’s Meals will be match funded by the government during this month.
There was also a visit from Emmet Dooley of SPUC, who has been giving presentations to S4 to S6 on various life and health and wellbeing topics that would be useful for them in the future.
