Since children in need was first broadcast in 1908 the fundraiser has earned at least £972 million and this year the organisers are hoping to beat last years whopping total of £60.7 million.
By raising money children in need helps children throughout the U.K. by providing grants to certain types of projects which are put in place to help these children that are in need and for example helps children in many areas of the U.K. for example: Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Central and Eastern England, London and South East England, Northern England and Isle of Man, South West and Channel Isles.
The night is filled with entertainment and the very emotional stories about the children who are in need which you may need your tissues at the ready for. There are usually many one-off specials of your favorite programmes, which take place including Doctor Who, Strictly Come Dancing, The One Show, EastEnders and much more, and also many music acts.
