iPad ideas: Maps

There are lots of things you can do with maps in class. Using an iPad you can easily take a screenshot of whatever is on the screen, In maps you can take a picture of map, terrain and street-view.  Once you have the pictures in your photo library you can then use them in other application. The Comic above was made with ComicLife, but there are other free apps such as ComicTouch which will do the same thing.

The comic above shows a couple of ideas:
In maths pupils can grab interesting ariel photos and label the shapes in a comic. Teachers could use images to create problems of all sorts. See Tom Barrett’s Maths Maps for some ideas. I’ve converted a couple of these into iPod Touch activities: NLC iPod (best viewed on Ipod Touch or iPhone).

In Literacy street-view pictures can be used as writing stimuli or as illustrations of children’s writing.

I guess you might be able to use maps in social Studies or Geography too;-)
