On Thursdays and Fridays, they have been exploring measure and using their estimation skills.<\/p>\n<p>In Literacy, the children are mostly reading two books a week in class and these are the titles covered in September by each group:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Ants<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nMonty and the Ghost Train<br \/>\nMonty and the Crab<br \/>\nMonty at McBurgers<br \/>\nThe Fox and the Stork<br \/>\nThe Old Woman and the Hen<br \/>\nThe Fox and the Rabbit<br \/>\nThe Bears and the Honey<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Bees<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nRed Ted at the Beach<br \/>\nRed Ted goes to School<br \/>\nLittle Rabbit<br \/>\nThe Sun and the Wind<br \/>\nThe Town Mouse and the Country Mouse<br \/>\nMax and the Cat<br \/>\nMax and the Drum<br \/>\nPirate Pete and the Monster<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Butterflies<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe Princess and the Pea<br \/>\nMamba &amp; the Crocodile Bird<br \/>\nPete Little<br \/>\nKiboko &amp; the Water Snake<br \/>\nJoey<br \/>\nHouse-hunting<br \/>\nThe Clever Penguins<br \/>\nThe Flying Fish<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Ladybirds<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe Secret<br \/>\nThe Falcon<br \/>\nThe Crystal Unicorn<br \/>\nGrandma&#8217;s Smile<br \/>\nSteggie&#8217;s Way<br \/>\nMacTavish&#8217;s Creature<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/span>As well as working hard in Literacy and Maths every day, Primary 3\/2 have been learning how to prepare different foods. So far they have made popcorn, mini pizzas, stewed apples and potato scones. The children have really enjoyed putting their skills to good use and having tasty treats!<\/p>\n<p>The children are doing ball skills and playground games in PE and continue to work on listening carefully to follow instructions accurately.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what some of our learners had to say:<\/p>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Brendan<\/em> &#8211; I loved minibeasts &#8211; animals like worms and butterflies, caterpillars and stuff. We did it with Miss Gallagher up in the science room.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Chizzy<\/em> &#8211; we just started Space with Miss Gallagher.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Zain<\/em> &#8211; We&#8217;re doing Space again.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Brendan<\/em> &#8211; I think there&#8217;s 62 moons on Venus.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Nieve<\/em> &#8211; camouflaging butterflies &#8211; colour them in. Bright and colourful. They can camouflage so the birds won&#8217;t eat them.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Brendan<\/em> &#8211; in trees.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Nieve<\/em> &#8211; in leaves. They look like they have 4 wings.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Chizzy<\/em> &#8211; moths looks scary. They have eyes to scare away predators and to look like a much bigger and stronger animal like an owl. *<em>Mrs Cooney<\/em> &#8211; brilliant!*<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Brendan<\/em> &#8211; catch butterflies in nets. Went outside to find butterflies and minibeasts. Lots of wasps.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Brendan<\/em> &#8211; 3 plus 2 and then you add on the 10 (3 steps x add x add x) Some games are up to 1000. Number counters &#8211; what is in between 55 and 57. The number after and before. The bear on TopMarks &#8211; you give it cupcakes so like 2+6 and you give it 8. We changed the big 100 square in class so it goes the other way &#8211; numbers go up instead of down.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Zain<\/em> &#8211; Basketball Games on TopMarks<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Nieve<\/em> &#8211; TopMarks Robot Addition<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Chizzy<\/em> &#8211; up to 999. Before and after numbers. The big number square.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Brendan<\/em> ICT room &#8211; logged in and logged out.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Zain<\/em> &#8211; playroom played in there and then went back to the ICT room with Miss Gallagher.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Chizzy<\/em> &#8211; We made something a few weeks ago with Mrs Daisley<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">We made these apple things. We had to take all of the skin and cooked it. Cored it.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Zain<\/em> &#8211; we made pizza in the playroom!<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Brendan<\/em> &#8211; and we made potato scones and they were delicious!<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Nieve<\/em> &#8211; In the playroom we made popcorn. Zain and Eesa missed out.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Brendan<\/em> &#8211; we got sugar and the sugar was the best part!<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Brendan<\/em> &#8211; really liked reading Pete Little and House-hunting . We each read a different part Baby Bear, Mummy Bear and Daddy Bear.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">Grannie Mainland wrote.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Zain<\/em> &#8211; really liked reading the Bears and the Honey<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">Granny Island visited.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><em>Nieve<\/em> &#8211; favourite reading book was The Flying Fish because the little boy didn&#8217;t have a kite and his dad made one for him.
