Parent Councils came into force on 1st<\/sup>\u00a0August 2007.<\/p>\n

A Parent Council has been formed in Holy Family. The constitution states that the membership will be a maximum size of 16 with the quorum for parents to be a minimum of three parents in attendance. When an election is due, all members of the Parent Forum will be advised of date etc., their right to stand and voting procedures.<\/p>\n

The rights of a Parent Council include:-<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Supporting the work of the school;<\/li>\n
  2. Representing the views of parents;<\/li>\n
  3. Consulting with parents and reporting back to the Parent Forum on matters of interest;<\/li>\n
  4. Promoting contact between the school, parents, pupils, nursery providers and the wider community;<\/li>\n
  5. Fund raising;<\/li>\n
  6. Taking part in the selection of senior promoted staff;<\/li>\n
  7. Receiving reports from the head teacher and Education Authority;<\/li>\n
  8. Receiving an annual budget for administration, training and other expenses.<\/li>\n
  9. Improving home school partnership and facilitating Parental involvement<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Members of Parent Councils, on a voluntary basis, may also have an advisory role in decisions on placing requests by parents in respect of those situations where the number of placing requests for a particular school or particular stage in a particular school exceeds the number of places available.<\/p>\n

    Meetings of the Parent Council are open to members of the Parent Forum and dates\/times of meetings are published on our notice board at the entrance to the school, in the newsletter and via the Holy Family Parents Facebook page. Mrs Wilson, Head Teacher, is a professional advisor to the Parent Council and has a right and duty to attend all meetings of the Parent Council.<\/p>\n

    Our Parent Council have an excellent partnership with the school [and with the Parish]. If you would like to find out more about the Parent Council and what we do, or if you have something you would like to discuss we would be delighted to see you. We always welcome new members, and all parents and carers are welcome to come along to any of our meetings. We appreciate that meeting dates\/times won\u2019t always suit everyone, so please don\u2019t let that put you off \u2013 there is no obligation to come along to every meeting.<\/p>\n

    We aim to have parental representation across all year groups from P1 \u2013 P7 if possible, so please come and join us if you can.<\/p>\n
