Welcome to our Holy Family Primary transition page which we have created especially for our new children who are coming to join our fantastic school in August 2020.
It was a pleasure to meet most of you yesterday. We hope you had lots of fun coming to see us.
This week we have added information for the parents/carers of our new entrants. Please see link for more information about our curriculum. New entrants powerpoint.
Mrs Wilson and all the team at Holy Family Primary.
This week’s story is The Gruffalo written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffer
Here is a link to the story being read by Mrs McGowan
Did you enjoy that story boys and girls?
Here is a link to a website with lots of different stories and activities on it https://www.gruffalo.com/activities/activities
Just like last week, we have some lovely activities for you to try. We’re sure you’ll be super workers. Here are your tasks:
Investigate the rhyming in the books. Which words rhyme? Can you think of other words that rhyme with those?
Can you draw a picture of your favourite character or event in the story?
Can you tell your parents/carers what the story was about?
Can you describe the characters, look at their facial expressions. How do you think they are feeling?
Did you like the story? Why?
Why not go a walk in the park or woods, can you see the Gruffalo?
Can you make your own model of the Gruffalo using items from your house?
Remember and tweet us your adventures with this story
Now that you have finished all these wonderful tasks we have some exciting news for you. You have been invited to take part in a very special Teddy Bear’s Picnic next Tuesday. We know that we can’t all do this together but would love you to join in at home. Here is an invitation for our very special boys and girls – Teddy Bears Picnic Invitation June 2020
To help you get in the mood for the picnic here are some exciting tasks you might like to do at home:
- Use these playdough mats and share out your playdough to give all the teddy bears some food for their picnic. It’s so kind to share! playdough mats
- Imagine what you will look like having your picnic next week. Draw a picture of you eating your picnic with your favourite teddies or cuddly toys. Teddy Bear – draw myself task
