Let\u2019s start off today with a Hail Mary.<\/p>\n
Here are today\u2019s activities:<\/p>\n
Literacy<\/strong>: Read the words and sounds in your word tin. (Mums and dads, if you feel there are words which your child is really confident with you can put these words aside and just do them once or twice per week. Also, you may feel your child no longer needs a double set of words so you can remove the extra words.)<\/p>\n This week\u2019s\u00a0 common words AND spelling words. Please note that the children will learn to read and spell the same words this week. Choose which option best suits your child.<\/p>\n General option<\/strong>: much\u00a0 of\u00a0 or<\/p>\n Initial option<\/strong>: the\u00a0 and\u00a0 did<\/p>\n Please make up word cards for the above words for your child\u2019s word tin. Use whatever is available to you, eg paper, card, cereal box etc.<\/p>\n Common word tasks<\/strong>:<\/p>\n Dictated sentence<\/strong>: Please say one of these sentences a word at a time for your child to write down:<\/p>\n Initial option<\/strong>: I am on the bus. (Your child can make the sentence using their word cards first then you can help them sound out the last word).<\/p>\n General option<\/strong>: My mum can chop up my chips for me.<\/p>\n Challenge option<\/strong>: I went up the path with my mum to get fish and chips from the chip shop.<\/p>\n Remember a capital letter, full stop and finger spaces throughout. Try to read at least 2 books from here per week. Allow your child to listen to the story initially, then turn off the sound and see if they can have a go at reading the book.<\/p>\n Maths:\u00a0<\/strong>Count aloud to 100 in ones and tens. Count in twos to 20. Count back from 30 to 0.<\/p>\n Play this game if you are able:\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0https:\/\/www.topmarks.co.uk\/ordering-and-sequencing\/caterpillar-ordering<\/a><\/p>\n Choose whatever options in the game you like.<\/p>\n We are working on take away in class. Chat about what take away means. Do some oral sums for taking away 0 and 1. Talk about what happens when you take away everything.<\/p>\n Gather 5 objects of your choice. Investigate taking away 0 then 1, 2 etc. Write the sums in your jotter eg 5-0=1, 5-1=4 and so on until you have all the sums possible.<\/p>\n When we worked on adding we investigated the commutative law ( 4+5=9\u00a0 5+4=9) and children would talk about \u2018swapping their sum around\u2019. Children were very good at this! Chat about how take away sums can be swapped around eg 9-5=4 and 9-4=5.<\/p>\n Put some take away sums in your child\u2019s jotter for them to do. You can judge how many they are in the mood for doing! They can use counting objects or a numberline to complete them, or any method which works for them. If your child would rather do these sums orally with practical materials, that is fine.<\/p>\n RE: We are going to be learning the \u2018Our Father\u2019. Ask an adult to say this prayer and you should practise very day if you can.<\/p>\n Be good for your mums and dads and help out around the house as much as you can.
