Welcome to our weekly blog!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Maths & Numeracy<\/strong> – This week we have continued to use strategies in our maths to help us add and subtract totals quickly.\u00a0 We also investigated the number square and found out that when we go along we count up and down in ones.\u00a0 When we go up and down the columns we add and subtract in tens. We have learned to use the number line to quickly add too.\u00a0 Ask us to show you!<\/p>\n

Literacy<\/strong> – We are continuing to read our class novels.\u00a0 The Best Dog in The world and Horrid Henry.\u00a0 We used infrencing to work out what the author means (Reading between the lines).\u00a0 Also, we have created visualisers to help us create pictures in our minds.\u00a0 One of the new words we learned this week in metalinguistics is ‘eagerly’ – this means that you are keen to do it. Miss Conroy set us a challenge with our spelling words – we had to create headlines using our words.<\/p>\n

Health & Well Being<\/strong> – This week we have learned even more about the Eatwell plate. We now know the names of the five food groups. (Carbohydrates, Fruit & Veg, Dairy, Fats & Oils, Protein) We now know that it is important to eat more of the bigger parts and less of the smaller parts. It’s all about a ‘balanced diet’.<\/p>\n

Topic (SPACE)<\/strong> – We had so much fun this week learning about the phases of the moon.\u00a0 Mrs Doherty brought in some Oreo biscuits for us to create the lunar phases of the moon.\u00a0 \u00a0This was quite challenging to do; the biscuits were quite fragile and we had to be careful not to break them.\u00a0 We also had to remember what the different phases were.\u00a0 \u00a0We worked in our groups to help each other.\u00a0 Have a look at our pictures!<\/p>\n
