{"id":511,"date":"2025-02-19T13:08:27","date_gmt":"2025-02-19T13:08:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/hilltopps\/?page_id=511"},"modified":"2025-02-19T13:17:09","modified_gmt":"2025-02-19T13:17:09","slug":"science","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/hilltopps\/science\/","title":{"rendered":"Science"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><b data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Curriculum for Excellence- Science<\/b><\/div>\n<div>\n<div align=\"left\">Science includes experiences and outcomes in biological, chemical, physical and environmental contexts.<\/div>\n<div>The most important goal for science education is to stimulate, nurture and sustain the curiosity, wonder and questioning of children and young people.Young children have a natural sense of wonder and curiosity and are active and eager learners endeavouring to make sense of the world.<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">They develop ideas through play, investigation, first-hand experience and discussion.<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">As they grow older children ask searching questions based on their everyday observations and experiences of living things, the environment and the materials, objects and devices they interact with.<\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">Young people are fascinated by new discoveries and technologies and become increasingly aware of, and passionate about, the impact of science on their own health and wellbeing, the health of society and of the environment.<\/div>\n<div aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"left\">Learning through the sciences enables children and young people to:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>investigate their environment by observing, exploring, investigating and recording<\/li>\n<li>demonstrate a secure understanding of the big ideas and concepts of science<\/li>\n<li>make sense of evidence collected and presented in a scientific manner<\/li>\n<li>recognise the impact science makes on their lives, on the lives of others, on the environment and on culture<\/li>\n<li>express opinions and make decisions on social, moral, ethical, economic and environmental issues informed by their knowledge and understanding of science<\/li>\n<li>establish the foundation where appropriate,\u00a0for more advanced learning and future careers in the sciences and technologies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Curriculum for Excellence- Science Science includes experiences and outcomes in biological, chemical, physical and environmental contexts.
