What is a Parent Council ?
All parents/carers who have a child attending a North Lanarkshire school are automatically members of the Parent Forum of that school and, as such, are entitled to have a say in what happens at the school. As members of the forum, they can expect to get information about what their children are learning, get information about events and activities at the school, get advice on how they can support their children’s learning and be told about opportunities to become involved in the school.
The Parent Council is composed of up to 15 members of the parent forum and aims to represent their views. The objectives of the Parent Council are:
– To work in partnership with the school to create a welcoming school which is inclusive for all parents/carers
– To promote partnership between the school, its pupils and all its parents/carers
– To develop and engage in activities which support the education and welfare of the pupils
– To identify and represent the views of parents/carers on the education provided by the school and other matters affecting the education and welfare of the pupils
– To work in partnership with the school to continue developing strong community links
How can you contact the parent council?
Please contact the council in writing, care of the Parent Council, at the school address with any issues you wish raised. If you wish to attend a meeting in person, please contact the school and they will advise you the date of the next meeting.
The council will be happy to present any of your concerns, issues or ideas for improvement of the school to the Head Teacher. However, we are unable to deal with any individual pupil queries or complaints, as the school already has a well-established and effective complaints procedure.
We are always keen to hear of any issues you may have to improve or enhance the school life of our children, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We aim to keep all parents and carers up to date with our activities via the regular school newsletters.
