{"id":17,"date":"2015-05-05T09:23:28","date_gmt":"2015-05-05T09:23:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/anntest3\/?page_id=17"},"modified":"2017-09-27T10:34:28","modified_gmt":"2017-09-27T10:34:28","slug":"curriculum-for-excellence","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/greenhillprimaryschool\/curriculum-for-excellence\/","title":{"rendered":"Curriculum for Excellence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Curriculum For Excellence<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">What is Curriculum for Excellence?<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<h2>Aim<\/h2>\n<p>Curriculum for Excellence is intended to help children and young people gain the knowledge, skills and attributes needed for life in the 21st century, including skills for learning, life and work.<\/p>\n<h2>Purpose<\/h2>\n<p>Its purpose is often summed up as helping children and young people to become:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Successful learners<\/li>\n<li>Confident individuals<\/li>\n<li>Responsible citizens<\/li>\n<li>Effective contributors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These are referred to as the four capacities.<\/p>\n<h2>What is the curriculum and what does it include?<\/h2>\n<p>Curriculum for Excellence is designed to achieve a transformation in education in Scotland by providing a coherent, more flexible and enriched curriculum from 3 to 18. The term curriculum is understood to mean &#8211; everything that is planned for children and young people throughout their education, not just what happens in the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>Curriculum for Excellence includes four contexts for learning:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Curriculum areas and subjects<\/li>\n<li>Interdisciplinary learning<\/li>\n<li>Ethos and life of the school<\/li>\n<li>Opportunities for personal achievement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Key elements<\/h2>\n<h3>Curriculum levels and stages<\/h3>\n<p>The curriculum has two stages: the <a href=\"https:\/\/education.gov.scot\/scottish-education-system\/Broad%20general%20education\"> broad general education<\/a> (from the early years to the end of S3) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/education.gov.scot\/scottish-education-system\/senior-phase-and-beyond\/Senior%20phase\"> senior phase <\/a>(S4 to S6).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Curriculum For Excellence What is Curriculum for Excellence?
