{"id":743,"date":"2015-05-14T16:40:47","date_gmt":"2015-05-14T15:40:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/glenmanornews\/?page_id=743"},"modified":"2022-01-14T16:23:18","modified_gmt":"2022-01-14T15:23:18","slug":"transport","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/glenmanornews\/transport\/","title":{"rendered":"Transport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #ffcc00\"><strong>Transport<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Council has a policy of providing free transport to all primary pupils who live more than one mile from their catchment school by the shortest suitable walking route.\u00a0 This policy is more generous than the law requires.\u00a0 This means that the provision of transport could be reviewed at any time.<\/p>\n<p>Parents\/carers who consider they are eligible should obtain an application form from the school or from Education and Families.\u00a0 These forms should be completed and returned before the end of February for those pupils beginning school in August to enable the appropriate arrangements to be made.<\/p>\n<p>Applications may be submitted at any time throughout the year but may be subject to delay whilst arrangements are made.<\/p>\n<p>There is discretion in certain circumstances to grant privilege transport for pupils to travel in transport provided by the Authority, where spare places are available and no additional costs are incurred.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk\/index.aspx?articleid=5454\">NLC Free School Transport<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk\/index.aspx?articleid=26306\">NLC Privilege Transport<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #ffcc00\"><strong>Pick Up Points<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>While free transport is provided it may be necessary for pupils to walk a certain distance to the vehicle pick-up point.<\/p>\n<p>Walking distance in total, including the distance from home to the pick-up point and from the drop-off point to the school in any one direction, will not exceed the authority\u2019s limits (see above paragraph).<\/p>\n<p>It is the parent\u2019s responsibility to ensure their child arrives at the pick-up point in time.\u00a0 It is also the parent\u2019s\/carers responsibility to ensure the child behaves in a safe and acceptable manner while boarding, travelling in, and alighting from the vehicle.\u00a0 Misbehaviour could result in a loss of the right to free transport.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #ffcc00;text-decoration: underline\">\u00a0<strong>Placing Requests<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The council does not provide transport for those pupils in receipt of a placing request other than in exceptional circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of early entry requests, if the child is offered a place in the catchment area school, transport will be provided in accordance with Council\u2019s policy stated above.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #ffcc00\"><strong>ASN Transport<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Some of our pupils with additional support needs require ASN transport. The ASN transport can park in the designated disabled parking bay near the front door within the staff car park. Pupils with ASNs are dropped off and collected at the front office every day.
