These, as well as homework, place demands on a child\u2019s time, and their parents\/carers.\u00a0 Homework should be manageable with regards to time for all concerned. In light of this, and as a result of consultation with all stakeholders, we have produced the following policy.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;color: #ffcc00\"><strong>Why is Homework Given?<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>To consolidate and extend work carried out in class<\/li>\n<li>To encourage good study habits and independence in our children<\/li>\n<li>To work in partnership with parents\/carers<\/li>\n<li>To have fun<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;color: #ffcc00\"><strong>How Often and How Long?<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Four nights of homework will be issued each week<\/li>\n<li>Primaries 1-3 will be given up to 15 minutes of homework each night<\/li>\n<li>Primaries 4-5 will be given up to 20 minutes of homework each night<\/li>\n<li>Primaries 6 -7 will be given up to 30 minutes of homework each night<\/li>\n<li>Homework will be issued as follows :<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8211; Term 1\u00a0 &#8211; September &#8211; November<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0 Term 2\u00a0 &#8211; January\u00a0 &#8211; Spring Break<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Term 3 &#8211; Spring Break\u00a0 &#8211; June<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unfinished classwork may be issued outwith these times<\/li>\n<li>Homework will NOT be issued to children on family holidays<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ffcc00;text-decoration: underline\">What will be given as homework?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Literacy tasks<\/li>\n<li>Numeracy tasks<\/li>\n<li>Tasks related to other curricular areas<\/li>\n<li>Research tasks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Homework may not always be a written task.
