{"id":82,"date":"2023-05-30T16:38:34","date_gmt":"2023-05-30T15:38:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/glencairnprimaryschoolmotherwell\/?page_id=82"},"modified":"2025-08-25T10:33:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-25T09:33:09","slug":"parent-council","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/glencairnprimaryschoolmotherwell\/parent-council\/","title":{"rendered":"Parent Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have a very active parent council who support our school with fundraising and events for our children and families.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Helen McCafferty &#8211; Chairperson<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Fiona Kane &#8211; Treasurer<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Virginia Ortega Aguado &#8211; Vice-Treasurer<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Linzi McCallum &#8211; Secretary<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Fiona Adie &#8211; Communications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<p>They meet on a Wednesday once a month and would like to welcome others.<\/p>\n<p>The Parent Council\u2019s rights and duties include:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>supporting the school;<\/li>\n<li>representing the views of parents<\/li>\n<li>consulting with parents and reporting back to the Parent Forum on matters of interest;<\/li>\n<li>promoting contact between the school, parents, pupils, providers of nursery education and the wider community;<\/li>\n<li>fundraising;<\/li>\n<li>taking part in the selection of senior promoted staff;<\/li>\n<li>receiving reports from the head teacher and education authority; and<\/li>\n<li>receiving an annual budget for administration, training and other expenses.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Members of Parent Councils, on a voluntary basis, may also have an advisory role in decisions on placing request by parents in respect of those situations where the number of placing requests for a particular school or for a particular stage in a particular school exceeds the number of places available.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have a very active parent council who support our school with fundraising and events for our children and families.
