{"id":2598,"date":"2019-03-22T14:39:19","date_gmt":"2019-03-22T14:39:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/ghshome\/?p=2598"},"modified":"2019-03-22T14:39:19","modified_gmt":"2019-03-22T14:39:19","slug":"school-news-47","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/ghshome\/2019\/03\/22\/school-news-47\/","title":{"rendered":"SCHOOL NEWS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>Cyber Treasure Hunt Final<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Monday 11<sup>th<\/sup> March, eleven of our S2 girls attended the final of a national Cyber Treasure Hunt competition at the Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.\u00a0 The girls had taken part in the qualifying rounds over a number of months as part of their ICT class.\u00a0 They worked in teams to complete puzzles that were released every week and earned their invitation to the grand final!<\/p>\n<p>It was a fantastic event, created to inspire and support school girls into the technology sector and was run as part of this year\u2019s Women in Data Science Festival.\u00a0 Throughout the day, our pupils took part in a number of challenges.\u00a0 They completed mathematical puzzles, cracked ciphers, solved cyber security problems and programmed tiny computers.\u00a0 Additionally, they heard talks from some inspirational females working in the technology industry.\u00a0 A great day was had by all!<\/p>\n<p>Although we didn\u2019t quite make the prize podium, we are so proud of the dedication and effort displayed by our S2s!\u00a0 Well done to Erin Goodman, Ella Jane Hamilton, Emma Sharpe, Holly Carr, Katie Carline, Olivia Bennewith, Ellie Cooper, Melissa Hamiltion, Kirstie Lyall, Antonia Paterson, Chloe Newlands and Ashleigh Kelly!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/ghshome\/files\/2019\/03\/pic1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2599\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/ghshome\/files\/2019\/03\/pic1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/ghshome\/files\/2019\/03\/pic2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2600\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/ghshome\/files\/2019\/03\/pic2-300x240.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/ghshome\/files\/2019\/03\/pic3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2601\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/ghshome\/files\/2019\/03\/pic3-300x268.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"268\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/ghshome\/files\/2019\/03\/pic4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2602\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/ghshome\/files\/2019\/03\/pic4-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Scottish Schools Climbing Competition<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Greenfaulds High School entered their very first team into the Scottish Schools Climbing Competition. Greenfaulds High School pupils were the only North Lanarkshire pupils in the competition.\u00a0 Participants were ranked in accordance to age and gender. The results are as follows, and are Scotland wide. We hope to compete again in the future.
