{"id":1059,"date":"2016-11-04T11:46:01","date_gmt":"2016-11-04T11:46:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/ghshome\/?p=1059"},"modified":"2016-11-04T11:46:01","modified_gmt":"2016-11-04T11:46:01","slug":"school-news-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/ghshome\/2016\/11\/04\/school-news-2\/","title":{"rendered":"School News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em><u>SUCCESS AT THE ROYAL NATIONAL M\u00d2D<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two of our pupils had success at the Royal National M\u00f2d last week.\u00a0 Emily Robertson received the Gold Medal in the Solo Singing (16-19) competition, singing <em>O Diuram<\/em>.\u00a0 This competition is only open to previous M\u00f2d gold medal winners.\u00a0 Emily\u2019s performance can be seen 59 minutes into the second program of <em>M\u00f2d N\u00e0isaeanta R\u00ecoghal,<\/em> <em>M\u00f2d na Cloinne <\/em>on BBCi Player.<\/p>\n<p>(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/iplayer\/episode\/b08022pd\/mod-naiseanta-rioghail-2016-1-mod-na-cloinne-part-1\">http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/iplayer\/episode\/b08022pd\/mod-naiseanta-rioghail-2016-1-mod-na-cloinne-part-1<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Jessica Muir received the Gold Medal for the Cl\u00e0rsach Intermediate 2 competition, playing a selection of marches.<\/p>\n<p><u><\/u><strong><em><u>JUNIOR GAELIC CHOIR <\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Greenfaulds pupils Emily Robertson and Hannah Russell, as part of Falkirk Junior Gaelic Choir, visited the Scottish Parliament recently, on their return from the Royal National Mod held in Stornoway. The choir made up of children between 7 and 18 were invited to the 30th Birthday Celebrations of Childline, held in Holyrood on the 26th October.<\/p>\n<p>The choir was asked to sing a selection of songs to a group of invited guests including Dame Esther Rantzen the founder and president of Childline.\u00a0 The choir had recent success at the Royal National Mod placing 2nd in all of their competitions and picking up the top award for achieving the highest Gaelic mark in one of their competitions.<\/p>\n<p><u><\/u><strong><em><u>INFORMATION EVENING<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Parents of P7 pupils are invited to an Open Evening for P7\u00a0 Pupils and Parents on Thursday 17 Nov at 7pm for a &#8216;walk round&#8217; of the school where they will &#8216;follow a timetable&#8217;. All prospective parents and pupils for next year\u2019s First Year are invited to attend on that evening.<\/p>\n<p><u><\/u><strong><em><u>NEED HELP WITH YOUR MATHS???<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pupils can attend homework club on a Monday after school from 3.45pm to 4.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>Supported Study has also started for our S4 &#8211; S6 pupils.<\/p>\n<p>Higher &#8211; Monday 3.45pm to 4.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>National 5 &#8211; Tuesday after school.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>CODE CLUB<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are interested in programming, a Code Club is running on Fridays at lunchtime.<\/p>\n<p>We will be using Scratch, Kodu and AppInventor. Please bring a packed lunch. Passes are available from Miss Buchanan. Places are limited.<\/p>\n<p><u><\/u><strong><em><u>GEOGRAPHY CLUB<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Geography Club is in F044 with Miss Morrow on Tuesday lunchtimes. Eat your lunch in the canteen before the club. New members very welcome.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>MORNING CLUB<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Morning Club has restarted. All are invited to pick up some brekkie, finish off any homework and get ready for the day ahead. Club will be on daily from 8.30am. See you there \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><u><\/u><strong><em><u>ATTENTION! S1&#8217;S.<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A lunchtime Drama club is on every Wednesday. Please bring a packed lunch with you.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t forget to collect your drama pass. See you there Miss Hall<\/p>\n<p><u><\/u><strong><em><u>S1 CROSS STITCH CLUB <\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>S1 Cross Stitch Club on Thursdays at lunch time to make pictures using cross stitch.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>SCHOOL CLUBS<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As usual Greenfaulds will be offering a range of school clubs throughout the year to challenge and inspire our pupils. Trials for a range of football teams are scheduled to take place in the near future. Pupils interested in taking part should contact the member of staff responsible for their team.<\/p>\n<p>With many practical, recreational and educational clubs due to start soon there is sure to be something that will interest all of our pupils.
