Head Teacher Blog<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

\"\"<\/a>Dear Parent\/Carer<\/p>\n

I hope you have had a good week.<\/p>\n

So, that was Session 25-26!<\/p>\n

As I write this on Thursday, prior to posting on Friday, the school is basking in the summer sun and staff and pupils are excited about the summer break.\u00a0 However, I also feel an immense sense of pride in what we have collectively achieved in just over 9 months.\u00a0 My speech at Prize Giving gave a sense of the school\u2019s achievements this session and is available below.\u00a0 However, I would continue to stress that our achievements as a school community are only achievable thanks to our shared efforts to support all our young people to do their best.\u00a0 As always, a huge thank you for your support and guidance over this session.<\/p>\n

I appreciate that whilst the school is closed for the summer many of our young people will continue to achieve amazing things.\u00a0 If your son\/daughter is involved in any activities outside of school which you would like to share with me, please do and I will pick them all up when I come back at the end of July.<\/p>\n

Prize Giving<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

On Tuesday evening, we were delighted to be joined by families as we celebrated our young people\u2019s achievements in and out of the classroom (albeit in an exceptionally warm room!).\u00a0 As always, the wealth of talent on show was incredible and our pupils continue to achieve amazing things!\u00a0 A huge thank you to Ms Bonar and the staff team for their organisation and delivery of the night which is always a wonderful event.<\/p>\n

Alton Towers<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>On Tuesday of this week, over 180 pupils from Greenfaulds had a reward day in Alton Towers.\u00a0 A long day on the road including leaving and returning in the wee small hours was a great day with pupils representing our school community brilliantly.<\/p>\n

North Lanarkshire Mod<\/strong><\/p>\n

The North Lanarkshire M\u00f2d will take place on 18th and 19th September at Greenfaulds High School.<\/p>\n

A M\u00f2d is a traditional Scottish festival that celebrates Gaelic language, culture, and music. It brings people together to take part in a wide variety of competitions and performances, helping to promote and preserve Gaelic heritage while also welcoming those with no prior experience of the language.<\/p>\n

The event includes a range of competitions in singing and recitation for both Gaelic and non-Gaelic<\/p>\n

speakers, making it accessible and inclusive for all learners. There are also opportunities to participate in duets, piping, and choir competitions, allowing individuals and groups to showcase their talents in a supportive and celebratory environment.<\/p>\n

Support for pupils with ASN<\/strong><\/p>\n

As a parent with a child who has an additional support need, I know that information can be particularly helpful to ensure you are supporting your young person in the best possible way.\u00a0 The Support for Learning department work closely with Speech and Language therapy, Occupational Therapy, Hope for Autism and the Neurodevelopmental Team. If your child is on a waiting list to see any of the services, or have been given an identification of an Additional Support need, the following Facebook pages may be useful to you. They share hints and tips, have rolling programmes of local workshops for parents and children on common themes such as Sleep, Anxiety, language processing, sensory difficulties.<\/p>\n

Young Scot Cards<\/strong><\/p>\n

Increasingly, the use of Young Scot Cards for our pupils are very important, both in and out of school.\u00a0 As such, if your son\/daughter loses their card it can be problematic.\u00a0 We are able to apply for a replacement card on their behalf.\u00a0 However, we would ask that if you would like the school to do this, that parents\/carers need to email Mr Adler nladlerp@northlan.org.uk<\/a> with the students full name, date of birth, a photo, their address to send the card to and give permission to apply for a card.<\/p>\n
