Greenfaulds High School Gaelic Department

Hello and welcome to Greenfaulds High School Gaelic Department.

Established in 2000 with one teacher and only the subject of Gaidhlig offered, the Gaelic Department at Greenfaulds High School has grown, and continues to grow.  There is now a team of 4 teachers, delivering 10 subjects to approximately 115 pupils.  This includes the delivery of the Gaelic (Learners) course where pupils learn Gaelic as a second language from S1, with the opportunity to follow this curriculum to National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher levels.

The staff now support the learning of Gaelic in Westfield primary, Eastfield primary, Condorrat primary, Ravenswood primary, Woodlands primary and Baird memorial primary. Pupils from OLHS Motherwell and St Maurice’s have also chosen Gaelic at certificate level.

Please find  below a range of information which delves into the benefits of bilingualism and learning Gaelic, as well as some information from current students.
