This year, the Language Hub held a ‘design your own Osterei’ competition. Well done to our runner ups and also to the overall winner. All designs entered were absolutely wunderbar so well done to everyone.

Uniform Display in Grundschule Sande

Gaelic Presentation
Primary 3/4 have been learning how to create a Powerpoint presentation. Pupils created a Powerpoint about Gaelic to share with the whole school at assembly.
Learning About German and Gaelic Symbols
Primary 3/4 have been using the beautiful display at the front entrance to learn about German and Gaelic symbols. We know that ‘Wir sprechen Deutsch’ means ‘We speak German’ and ‘Tha Gàidhlig againn’ means ‘We speak Gaelic.’
A’ Chàisg Sona Bun-sgoil Condorrat!
Primary 3/4 pupils and Primary 5 pupils have been busy making cards to send to Condorrat Primary School. We wish our Gaelic partner school a happy Easter : A’ Chàisg sona!
Danke Schön Frau O’ Hara / Tapadh Leat Mrs O’ Hara
Thank you very, very much!!! Mrs O’ Hara has been very busy making this beautiful display for the entrance to the school. Mrs O’ Hara took ideas from pupils who attended the Gaelic after school club and brought them to life with this masterpiece, completely made using recycled fabrics! The German and Gaelic phrases mean ‘We speak German.’ and’ We speak Gaelic.’ Many, many thanks again.
SCILT Poetry Competition
Last term, pupils from across the school entered the SCILT Mother Tongue Other Tongue competition. Pupils created wonderful poems in German. A huge congratulations to our pupils who were awarded two ‘Highly Commended’ awards. Both children performed their poems at ‘The Language Show’ at the SECC.
Axel from Grundschule Rosenplatz
Gartcosh Primary School was pleased to welcome a primary school teacher from Germany at the beginning of February. We enjoyed learning about school life in Germany and practising speaking German with Axel.
Fèisgoil Workshop
Thank you Eilidh for delivering fabulous workshops to Primary 5, 6 and 7 classes. We learned a lot of new Gaelic vocabulary and enjoyed singing some new songs too.
Deutsch Cafe
Primary 7 pupils had a great morning speaking German with pupils and staff from the high school as well as representatives from the Goethe Institut in Glasgow.
