Still Life Drawings
Primary 1 worked hard during Art this week. We had to look closely at some Spring time flowers and draw exactly what we saw. This needed lots of concentration to look carefully at the shapes and to colour each flower and leaf.
We are very proud of our finished art work!
World Book Day Celebrations!
We had a lovely time for World Book Day.
Here are some of our fabulous costumes!
First of all we had a parade in the hall to show off our costumes.
The house captains had the difficult decision of picking a winning costume for P.1 and P1/2.
Well done Lily and Farrah!
Primary 4/5 then came and shared some wonderful stories, that they had written and illustrated themselves.
Primary 1 loved listening to all the fabulous, imaginative stories.
What a wonderful day that really made us think more about
‘Reading and Books’.
Food Tasting with Miss Donaldson
Today we had a fun food tasting session. Miss Donaldson let us taste lots of different fruits. Some were sweet and some were very sour!
We filled out a survey once we had decided which fruits we liked and which we didn’t like so much!
look at our funny faces when we tried tasting lime!
Active Literacy in Action!
Primary 1 wrote Super Stories about the ‘Cheeky Seagulls’ in the Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch. Later, we spent valuable time conferencing. We read each others stories and gave feedback on what our partners had done well and what we need to improve on.
EVERYBODY did very well… but a Special well done to this week’s Star Writers!!
Primary 1 Super stars!
Teddies at the Ready!
The Language Committee very kindly invited Primary 1 to a special Teddy Bears Picnic. We enjoyed lots of German tasty treats and listened to German songs. We all had our teddies there to join in the fun and we think they enjoyed the picnic too!
Rekenrek Fun!
Primary 1 have found it really helpful using Rekenreks in class to strengthen our addition skills and practise our number bonds.
We have been using the Rekenreks to practise our number bonds. They have helped us learn our stories of six!
Lily – ” I have 6 on the top and zero on the bottom.”
Harry – “I know another way! 2 on the top and 4 on the bottom make 6.”
Jase – ” I counted 5 red and 1 white.”
Emily – “I made the twin! I had 5 white and 1 red.”
Robin – “I found a way! 3 and 3 more make six”
Lots of fun performing at our special Scottish assembly!
We even got to taste some haggis, neeps and tatties afterwards! Well done to some pupils for being brave and giving it a try.
