Since returning from the February break children in the annexe have been very busy over the last couple of days.

Outdoors the children have had the opportunity to explore the orchard area of the garden and have been risk assessing their play as they experiment in climbing trees and building dens.

Within the writing area the children are continuing to explore letters and the letters within their names, daily the children have the opportunity to develop their writing skills as the are encouraged to write their name when they sign in. There has been particular focus on the sounds these letters make  and children have been practicing saying these sounds.

We have been focusing on number within the maths area over the last few days and children are becoming confident in identifying numbers 1-10. We have not only been developing skills in identifying the numbers but we have also been forming these numbers in the sand tray and we have been using buttons to let children see quantities.

The children have been exploring a variety of sensory experiences through gloop, water and playdough. Through these experiences children have been using new describing words to talk about how each of the experiences on offer.

Chilldren have been exploring and experimenting with a variety of instruments using these and their voices to re-create a selection of songs and nursery rhymes. In the construction area children have been building their own roads and using a selection of tools and clothing a they do so.
