What we have been learning……

Children have been recreating patterns as well as identifying patterns within their indoor and outdoor environment. They have been exploring the pegs and peg boards building towers using a variety of mathematical language such as tall, wide, long, small, big, bigger etc. Children have shown an interest in the story ” Owl Babies ” this has led them to role play the story sharing this with their friends.

Within all areas of the nursery the children have been developing their literacy and pre writing and writing skills creating plans within the construction area, shopping lists in the house corner, writing their names as well as using the patterns on the dice within the writing area to support their pre writing skills.

In the construction area the children have been using various resources to build and measure using mathematical language ie big, small, short, tall. They have also been identifying shape through their play, and developing their imagination while making their models.

Outdoors  the children have enjoyed listening to and retelling fairy tale stories, they have participated in a shape hunt, and have been exploring their senses investigating the herb garden  and digging area using their hands, spades, sticks to create mud pies etc.  The children have also been using their imagination and creativity to make patterns using chalk, water and paint brushes. Lots of den building experiences have been taking place which has supported the children’s problem solving skills in how to keep ourselves warm and dry.

The children have also taken part in the Halloween Party.  This was a great success as you can see from the pictures below.  Thank you again for all your support, the children had a fabulous party snack.
