The children have been introduced to the Three Read literacy programme that aims to improve the literacy skills of all children in North Lanarkshire.  Children take part in interactive story sessions within the same group every day where they have at least three reads of the same book. The first read children will be read the whole story, second read is where children will have conversations with the practitioners discussing the character, setting, action, problem and resolution within the story and the third read where children will be encouraged to make predictions about the story, make connections to their own experiences and recap on new vocabulary.

Research from the National Early Literacy Panel shows that interventions that are frequent and interactive have a positive effect on children’s oral skills.

To support us in effectively delivering these sessions we ask that your child arrives on time for their nursery session as this will enable these sessions to be uninterrupted.  The  Nurturing Early Readers  will begin at 8.50am and 1.10pm every day
