We hope this will give you an insight into what\u2019s going on in Firpark Secondary as well as giving you information about staff, classes, pupil groups and activities that take place in our school.<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>About Firpark Secondary<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Firpark School is a non-denominational school situated at the upper end of the town of Motherwell, close to Civic Centre, Motherwell Football Club and New College Lanarkshire, Motherwell Campus. It is within walking distance of the main shopping precinct and has good transport links.<\/p>\n<p>The school was purpose built in 1977 to accommodate pupils with additional support needs. It has good access facilities for persons with mobility needs and all the rooms are situated at ground level. The school has been installed with a security entrance system and perimeter fencing.<\/p>\n<p>Within our school building there are three teaching blocks, medical suite, technical, art, and home economic rooms, computer suite, P.E. hall, swimming pool, physiotherapy gym, hair and beauty room, bistro and polytunnels.<\/p>\n<p>At present there are 150 children on our roll (age range from 11-18 years) who are drawn from a catchment area within North Lanarkshire.\u00a0\u00a0 The children are transported to school either by local authority buses or taxis.\u00a0\u00a0 Some of our senior pupils travel independently to school, often on public transport.<\/p>\n<p>There is input from specialist services \u2013 speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, school medical officer, psychological services and hearing and visual impairment specialists.<\/p>\n<p>Within Firpark much attention is focused on the local community and pupils throughout the school participate in a wide range of out of school activities.\u00a0 We use our two school mini-buses to enable our pupils to access the local and wider community.\u00a0 We have a supportive Parent Forum.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Our aspirational vision and values at Firpark Secondary are:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To provide a happy learning environment where young people are valued and cared for.<\/li>\n<li>To provide a range of opportunities for pupils to develop their abilities and talents through a range of experiences and certificated courses.<\/li>\n<li>To Support pupils with their difficulties to develop skills for life and skills for work.<\/li>\n<li>To improve the pupils life chances and employment opportunities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We aim to work in partnership with our families and our community to achieve our vision by embedding the school values in our ethos and teaching and learning activities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/firparksecondary.piota.co.uk\/images\/pdfs\/Vision_and_Values.pdf\">Vision and Values<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/firparksecondary.piota.co.uk\/images\/pdfs\/Curriculum.pdf\">Firpark Curriculum Framework<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h5><strong>Please download our school app for all our current news.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>To get the new school app on your phones and tablets, search \u2018Piota Schools\u2019 in either the Apple or Android app stores or by clicking on one of the links below, then search for Firpark Secondary in the search box.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/gb\/app\/piota-schools\/id1333103848?mt=8\">Piota Schools<\/a>\u00a0(Apple)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=uk.co.piota.schools&amp;hl=en_GB\">Piota Schools<\/a>\u00a0(Android)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to our school website.
