ANTI-BULLYING
As part of our promoting positive behaviour within the school all pupils take part in Circle Time and Golden Time and children are rewarded for keeping the Golden Rules. Our Anti-Bullying Policy forms part of the positive ethos of our school.
Bullying in school can only be effective dealt with if parents, teachers and pupils work together to help find a solution. It is necessary to acknowledge that bullying does exist and is common to all schools in some degree and form. It should therefore consistently be given a high profile with the school, where an open, caring and supporting climate should exist.
School Response to Bullying
Initially, class teachers deal with any reports on bullying. If bullying is then repeated, the Head Teacher will be informed and may conduct interviews, offer support, offer counselling, contact parents, and/or set up a conduct card to monitor behaviour. The course of action will depend on the severity of the issue.
Parents can support the school by allowing staff sufficient time to deal with issues, which can at times be complex.
No Hitting Policy
In the school’s efforts to minimise incidents of bullying, it must be stated that any form of physical retaliation is unacceptable.
