{"id":153,"date":"2015-06-19T09:44:54","date_gmt":"2015-06-19T09:44:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/anntest3\/?page_id=149"},"modified":"2022-04-28T14:22:50","modified_gmt":"2022-04-28T14:22:50","slug":"additional-support-needs","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/cumbernauldprimary\/additional-support-needs\/","title":{"rendered":"Additional Support Needs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Additional Support Needs<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Named Person in our school is our Head Teacher, Mr Clinton.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Hart, Depute Head Teacher is our designated Additional Support for Learning Coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>Cumbernauld Primary complies with the Additional Support for Learning (Scotland) Act 2004 as<br \/>\namended by the Additional Support for Learning (Scotland) Act 2009 and the Additional Support for\u00a0Learning: Statutory Guidance 2017.<\/p>\n<p>In line with advice and guidance from North Lanarkshire Council, the school follows a model of<br \/>\nstaged intervention to support its pupils.<\/p>\n<p>Children and young with English as additional language are supported accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>Looked After Children i.e. children who are cared for directly or whose care is supervised by the local<br \/>\nauthority are deemed to have Additional Support Needs unless assessment determines otherwise.<\/p>\n<p>Parents and young people can request an assessment at any time to establish whether a child or\u00a0young person has additional needs and\/or requires a Co-ordinated Support Plan. Parents and pupils\u00a0are an essential part of the assessment; planning and review processes and your views will be\u00a0actively sought.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Planning- Getting it Right for Me<\/strong><br \/>\n(GIRFme) plans enable staff to plan effectively for children and young people when interventions are\u00a0requires to support their learning a improve outcomes. Parents\/carers and pupils are an essential\u00a0part of the assessment; planning and review processes and their views will be actively sought.<\/p>\n<p>Some children and young people may require significant support from education and at least one\u00a0other agency, such as health, social work and\/or voluntary agency to help them meet their learning\u00a0targets. Where this support requires a high level or co-ordination the opening of a Co-ordinated\u00a0Support Plan (CSP) may be considered. A CSP may be initiated by the school or another agency.<\/p>\n<p>Parents\/carers and young people can, if they wish, request that a CSP be considered and would be<br \/>\ninvolved in the process.<\/p>\n<p>Parents\/carers will receive letters from the Education Authority throughout the CSP process<\/p>\n<p>Parents\/carers and young people will be invited to take part in multiagency meetings and their views\u00a0will be recorded in the plan.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Where more intensive support for a child or young person needs to be planned for, usually when a\u00a0number of agencies are involved in supporting their wellbeing then a Child\u2019s Plan may be developed.\u00a0The plan will tell you what actions need to be taken and who will help with each action. It will usually\u00a0be someone called a \u2018Lead Professional\u2019 who will have the job of making sure that the actions\u00a0outlined in the plan take place and things get better for the child or young person.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Additional Support Needs The Named Person in our school is our Head Teacher, Mr Clinton.
